We are gonna see a screw sony and ps3 thread when Halo 3 trailers come up, so dont worry xbox people, your day will come.

Small correction - they said the RSX chip in the PS3 is twice as fast as a single 6800U - not twice as fast as an SLI setup.

Small correction of your incorrect correction.

I thought the 6800 sli setups were supposed to be unimpressive in terms of the performance gains over a single 6800?

The ghost recon 3 trailer for xbox360 is almost laughable after watching killzone(if its realtime).

Both systems look great though.

Meh....it's kind of a semantics thing, I think. They say it's more powerful than two 6800U's...that basically means it's twice as fast (or a little more) than a single 6800U, as I said. They didn't say it was twice as fast as two 6800U's...

Heh, CGI or not, one thing is clear: whichever consoles embrace the fluent use of a keyboard/mouse combination per person wins a huge market share, like FPS, RTS, and others. (say wireless bluetooth devices on PS3 and whichever wireless technology on the Xbox)

Also, is it just me or are war games really boring? I quit playing them back in 2002/2003 or so when you can pick up almost any title and it's all the same. Call of Duty was an exception, but Killzone wouldn't impress me at all. If I had a PS3, I would definitely not get it. Halo and Half-Life 2...they're too much of a spin-off from the "real thing" and I personally rank them as my two all-time favorites and enjoy playing them over and over. To me, there's more to a game than good graphics: it's all about gameplay and replay-ability, meaning, the chance that I'll go back and play the game again. My Gamecube ranks highly in the last regard.

Is it just me or does the PS3 look like a miniature version of a tanning bed? It seems a lot bigger than the Xbox 360. Anyone know the dimensions?

What's with the new Nintendo Revolution...is that thing real? Hello year 2030 toaster and headgear for braces!

How is this clear again?

I'll have to look again (I think it was in a thread at xbox365.com) but the PS3 is slightly larger than the Xbox360.

edit: Ok, I got this off a xbox365.com forum thread so this isn't exactly official but it looks about right after seeing the console pics.

PS3
13.5" x 3.25"

360
10.25" x 2.5"

Not if the new machine I pick up will play my old games. Chances are the old machine I replace will not last much longer and if it dies I can still enjoy the games I paid ALOT for on my new machine.
Or would you rather watch it die and not be able to play your games because everyone that didnt throw out thier old counsoles will want bank for them.

Whichever console can make the use of a keyboard/mouse per person (meaning that each player can use one) they will have a larger market share. There are a lot of people that piss and moan because they can't use a controller as well as they can use a KB/mouse.

Asthetically, the Xbox is the most pleasing. I remember the PS fanboys cranking out complaints that the Xbox was too beastly and massive. Seems the tables have turned.

I'm not really sure about that. Between Sony, Nintendo, and MS, if the market was there, they would have exploited it already. MS has said that they will allow mice and keyboard peripherals but they aren't encouraging it and leaving it up to the game developers on whether or not they want to use it.

wow some of you are pathetic. if you can't learn to play a FPS with a controller then you just suck at gaming.

i remember when i used to play FPS on PC w/the arrow keys and no mouse. i would use the arrow keys and page up/page down to look up and down, and i would have to hold a button to strafe. i eventually learned how to use the keyboard/mouse combo and it definitely helps much more.

the same goes for the controller. you can always learn how to use it. those of you bitching just probably suck at it right away and don't want to take time to learn how to use it, so you just give up. buncha pvssies if you ask me.

Nah, showing a new FF would have been a highlight, Killzone isn't anything special. The reality of it is, all the new shooters will look this good. Watching in-game footage of the other shooters leads me to believe this is not pre-rendered. Maybe choreographed for a demo, but probably close to what it'll be like in the game.

it is pre-rendered, its a fact. look at the article that the dude posted above. the team who created the video talks about the creation process of it.

As a side note, am I the only one that thinks that the Sony picks the cheesiest names for their components? Emotion Engine, Reality Synthesizer, Cell processor, etc...

No they aren't. A whole wopping 15fps gain at 1600x1200 with AA/AF on isn't exactly impressive. And if you compare the x850XT PE with the SLI'd Ultras, that gap shrinks. SLI was never good.

No, we just realize that the mouse+keyboard solution is 10x better. Moving to a mouse from all keyboard isn't hard at all...BECAUSE using the mouse is intuitive, simple, and better. Don't get me wrong, like consoles..but if I am gonna bother with an FPS, itll be on the computer most of the time.
