*Eh this deal is dead or something. Not a great deal anyway.*

As I was just in OfficeMax to exchange my 2mb WD drive for an 8mb (long story), I noticed Cendyne burner with $30 MIR, and it was going for $39.99.

So, $9.99 isn't a bad deal for me. My current CD-RW's tray doesn't work all the time, and the part number for this started out with like CRCxxxxxxx, but the front looked like a rebagged Liteon.

I'll probably go pick one up today. Anyone else who's done this deal feel free to contribue, I want to know.

Stay away from the model 4816p - rebadged Benq piece of <deleted>. Do not know about the "CRCXX...". Cendyne boxes have a brown box inside the colored band that covers 3 sides with a security seal on the brown box. I would ask to have it opened before I would buy. If you want a Lite-on there is a $15.00 deal at BB for a 52x. Search forum for details.

The cendyne 52x is on sale this sunday (6-1) for 9.99 AR. I needed a burner so I bought it last week and plan to return/rebuy for the rebate. The display box and the one they gave me was a lite-on drive.

I got one here at OM, because it helped with the SE WD 120gb purchase, it got me over $150 to use a $30 off coupon.

I also got one at BB (52x LiteOn) cause I had a 10% coupon to use.

Just purchased one of these
the model is 4816a
says it is a 48-12-48 on the box but the front cover on it says 48-16-48
it also has 2 buttons on the front instead of one as shown on the box
play/skip, and tray open close. I was not able to find any way to identify the maker
on the drive itself

I got a free BenQ recently. Works fine. Why do people hate them?? I use Lite-on drives too, and know their great. But still, no probs w/ the Benny yet....

Lite-Ons used to be crap too up until they got to their first "burnproof" drive, a 32x12x10 I recall.

Note that Last year PC World listed BenQ among their top 10 burners. Plexi's still the best.

I got the same drive. Google 4816a and it coughs up Asus just as dnuggett says. Looks just like BenQ and pn very close so I'm guessing BenQ makes for Asus?

I believe the LiteOn will have a 12 digit S/N and perhaps a LTR-XXXXXX model number. I nkow this is the case for the LiteOn mfr'd 52x24x52x drives. I just got the $10 OM one and it was in plastic wrap, unlike the other mfr'd ones, and it had a big sticker for the specs, covering up the specs on the box, and the LTR-52246S model number.

Just got back from OfficeMax. They had an LTR model on display and I made sure to ask the associate to grab me one with the same serial from the back. Got it with no problem.

FYI - model #LTR-52246S

I already have a 52x24x52x burner, but it isn't a LiteOn (it's an Aopen). It's a good drive, but impulse buying got the best of me, so I had to get a new one for $10. It's off to FS/FT for the Aopen!

Look in the space directly above that, right below system requirements.

Well, I just drove 25 minutes to OM to find out that it is $10 after 2 $30 rebates. Might want to update the title, or else this is not nationwide. The ad in the store said $80-10IR-30MIR-30MIR=$10

This deal was last week, 48x cenyne w/ one $30 MIR so 9.99 AR. This week starting 6/1 they have 52x cendyne for 9.99 after two $30 MIR. His post is right you are just a day late.

Just picked one up. The 52X burner. Has a LTR# on the box. But uses another burn proof technology other than "burn proof".

$69.99 minus 2x $30 rebates.
