Damn right. My '04 Silverado has only been to the dealership once for a non-issue, CS was top notch (at least at my dealership). My truck has no squeaks, rattles, falling off interior bits. I'm seriously planning on driving this truck to the ground and I expect a good 300k out of it.

You had a shitty problem from a stupid ass service department at some random dealership, it happens. try going SOMEWHERE ELSE.

BUT -- most dealerships DO NOT like working on a vehicle that came from a competing dealer (even if the same brand). It drags down their vehicles sold vs. warranty work done #'s and makes them look worse than they might necessarily be.

Jus' sayin'.

So do I. It is a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Too true. The chevy dealer in my town I wouldn't trust with a bicycle, let alone a motor vehicle. The one 10 miles away, and another 20 miles away, are both quality dealerships.

I've seen dealerships so bad, with so many complaints against them (both legal and through the corporation) that GM came in and shut them down (amazing how quickly a dealership goes out of business when GM comes in with a dozen or so car carriers and takes back all the new cars the dealership had on credit!! ). Sounds like you might have found one of those, OP.......but to trash an entire company from your dealings with one stealership just ain't right.

Check your state's lemon laws.

I've been driving Dodges for years and have been very happy. My 99 Stratus had 110k miles and was never in the shop except for the time I hit a curb real hard. My GF had a 2002 Stratus, 80k or so miles, never a single problem. Then she had an 07, no problems. I now have an 07 Charger, no problems. She just traded in the Dakota for an 08 Avenger, gets incredible gas mileage (compared tot he Dakota at least)

My bro has a 2000 300M That is still going strong. My other bro has a 2003 RAM that has had a little brake trouble but thats about it, other than it being a gas hog (he got the full cab + extended bed)

I would take a Chysler over Ford or GM any day.

I have an '04 Silverado too and even though it does run great, I received a notice in the mail that there is a class action lawsuit won against GM for that years trucks due to the dashboard (speedometer, rpm, gas gauges, etc.)going whack and not functioning at around 60 to 70 thousand miles. The letter said that you would have to pay for it initially but that GM would reimburse you for the cost of installing a new one. I haven't had any problems other than a light going out there, but it makes me wonder when and if.... Love the truck though.

California IIRC, but I heard new production is moving to Kentucky soon; not sure. It is built on the same line as the Tacoma. Like most vehicles, a ton of parts come from overseas tho, just like GM, Ford or Dodge vehicles.

It is a love it or hate it kinda truck. I have NEVER heard anyone say 'eh, it loosk ok'. It is either 'OMG ITS AWESOME' or OMG IT SUCKS'. I think it looks beautiful, but more important to me, it handles well (when the stability control isn't pissing me off) on and off road, hauls lots of junk, and takes my abuse. No breakdowns or broken parts yet *knocks on wood*. Mine was the 5th production FJ that had a manual transmission, and the 1st blue one. I feel so special

I'm pretty sure the FJ Cruiser is built by Hino Motors in Tokyo, Japan.

The plant in California, NUMMI only makes Corollas, Vibes and Tacomas.

I have a 2006 toyota corolla and put 44k miles on it. The dealership I bought it from rocks, rentals, free drinks and newspapers, but the one I currently live by sucks balls.

My fiancee has a 2005 Ford Taurus with 60k on the clock, and have done nothing but oil changes since we got it 20k miles ago as a fleet vehicle and it is holding up well except for one A pillar plastic cover which is an easy $20 fix.
Same with my parent's 2004 Ford Explorer, in the shop 1 time for a warranty issue, and has 60k on it. Dad's 2007 Ford f-150, in the shop 1 time with a bad seal from the factory, and he put 28k in 13 months on it. The local ford dealership has been good servicing all vehicles and checking them out.

All are good quality cars, but the dealerships can make or break your thoughts on a car manufacturer.

I will never buy another, both GM and the dealership can suck my balls. I may buy some GM stock just to wipe my ass.

FOLKS THERE IS A REASON GM IS FAILING, THEIR PRODUCTS SUCK AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS FOR SHIT.

After two or three tries, why the hell didn't you maybe...oh...try a different dealership?

WV, closest one is long drive away

i love chrysler heart: 300 SRT8 and crossfire) but their small/midsize offerings are terrible (sebring/avenger and caliber).

reason doesn't go well here.

What you me want to say is that the UAW fucked the US automakers. There is a reason that the cost of a car is typically $3,000 more than the Toyota equivalent.

In my experience the stripped down toyotas have been comparable to a nicely equipped GM car in cost. While toyota is indeed making more profit on their sale their msrp is usually close.

you fail at understanding the meaning of cost

FORD & USA FTW!

Well I've given them the benefit of the doubt, now I hope they go down hard. If they want to know why they are failing, THIS is why

Because you didn't read up beforehand and find out that ALL factory installed remote starts suck?

This.

OP, your and idiot.

Factory remote starters cause problems on lots of cars, and I don't see why they aren't tested better.
Two others I know of are Honda & Mercedes. It's not just a GM or American thing.

Come on.. not a PENNY in 16 years for repairs? I find this hard to beleive for ANY 16 year old vehicle, whether it be American made or foreign. I understand you are trying to make a point, but jeez, exaggerate much???

IDK, maybe if you drove it like 1,000 miles a year and garaged it the whole rest of the time.

olds intrigue, i bought it new august of 98. last week, i took it in to get my serpentine belt replaced and the mechanic said my ORIGINAL water pump was starting to leak and that i should replace it. my car is over 10 years old and has 205,000 miles on it. not too bad for a moving mechanical part.
