You should always replace your water pump when you get your serpentine belt changed

that was only my 2nd serpentine belt ever. this car has been pretty good to me. other than brakes, struts and tires, the only other money i've put into this car is for the power window motors.

205k miles and the car is still rolling strong. very very torquey. oh ya, my air conditioner compressor just went out recently, but i'm not going to worry about that till spring.

Where's the FJ built? Not seeing it on Toyota's US production line up.

California IIRC, but I heard new production is moving to Kentucky soon; not sure. It is built on the same line as the Tacoma. Like most vehicles, a ton of parts come from overseas tho, just like GM, Ford or Dodge vehicles.

It is a love it or hate it kinda truck. I have NEVER heard anyone say 'eh, it loosk ok'. It is either 'OMG ITS AWESOME' or OMG IT SUCKS'. I think it looks beautiful, but more important to me, it handles well (when the stability control isn't pissing me off) on and off road, hauls lots of junk, and takes my abuse. No breakdowns or broken parts yet *knocks on wood*. Mine was the 5th production FJ that had a manual transmission, and the 1st blue one. I feel so special

Did you get the special camo edition? A dealer near me had one that was covered in camo. I didn't check it out close enough to see how they did it, but some redneck is probably happy with it by now.

If you do a search on google images, you can see it. It's the same one I saw. Someone posted about it on toyotanation.com

No but GM has been of zero assistance

After the third time it failed you should have been asking for a regional service manager's phone number.

Yeah, I've known since I was like... 10? that you buy Japanese cars, and always have. My mom bought a Cavalier around ~2000 and had nothing but problems. She's stupid though

I'm guessing they're not returning the op's calls because he's acting like a big jerk whenever he calls.

Thats the worst advice ever. There is no need to replace the water pump that often. I have a cherokee with over 200k on it and have replaced the pump 0 times while I have replaced the belt every 50k or so. When the belt shows wear you replace it, when the pump fails you replace it.

I will never buy another
At the rate GM is going, that is a promise you can definitely make, because it won't be possible to buy another.
I drive an American car and it has been 100% reliable.
You bought it today? hee hee

My 00 Maxima has 120k on its belt. I really ought to change it one of these days but who am I kidding, I will wait until I get stranded somewhere.

Ford did better overall than any other auto maker in JD Power's latest round up

?Fourteen Ford Motor Company models placed in the top three of their respective segments ? an achievement unmatched by any other corporation this year ? which is a testament to the improvement in quality for Ford Motor Company vehicle models and plants."

FORD & USA FTW!

I plan on buying a new f-150 in the near future (oh and I actually need a truck for work...)

Me too, although they are not my favorite anymore.. I've seen the light.. FWIW, I have had best luck with American car dealerships (service wise)

According to consumer report, GM initial quality is as good as the Japanese brands. Has been for some time now. Ford has much better quality as well.

Well I've given them the benefit of the doubt, now I hope they go down hard. If they want to know why they are failing, THIS is why

Because you didn't read up beforehand and find out that ALL factory installed remote starts suck?

This.

OP, your and idiot.

Factory remote starters cause problems on lots of cars, and I don't see why they aren't tested better.
Two others I know of are Honda & Mercedes. It's not just a GM or American thing.

At least I can spell "you're" jackass.

Make call to GM
Waiting over a month with no resolution
Customer service is worthless
Been waiting 2 months with me repeatedly calling, still no resolution

I will never buy another, both GM and the dealership can suck my balls. I may buy some GM stock just to wipe my ass.

FOLKS THERE IS A REASON GM IS FAILING, THEIR PRODUCTS SUCK AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS FOR SHIT.

Have you looked into a lemon law claim on this? Sure looks like you have been incovenienced enough by this fiasco.

Lemon law in my state is 3 times, however I would be out the cost of having legal representation.

I'm guessing you are dead wrong, I've been extremely nice to them the whole time. They claim that they are going through "restructuring" and they don't have anyone named for the district rep. Which granted isnt my f'ing problem but I'm getting F'd as a result.

What you me want to say is that the UAW fucked the US automakers. There is a reason that the cost of a car is typically $3,000 more than the Toyota equivalent.

yeah those damn labor contracts that management signed.

lets not forget that gm pays out more in retirement benefits to management than it does to factory workers.

Then you need to talk to the person handling the district reps workload, probably a regional rep. You shouldn't have to put up with this, but your only option might be to take your car to another dealer or make them ship the car to that dealer for service. Dealers ship cars to other dealers daily for sales, someone higher up could force this to happen for service. I might go so far as to try getting the ear of owner of the dealership.

Knowing the way the domestic auto industry is now, I can guaranty at some point someone will be willing to kiss your ass. They don't want people to have the attitude you have, even if it is justified.
