Screwy mobo? No video signal going to monitor...

the problem is that there does not seem to be any signal goin to the monitor. Everythign sounds like it is booting up fine, but no signal reaches the monitor. I used a card in AGP as well as two diff PCI vid cards, same problem. ANy ideas? I know its none of my other components because everything fired up perfectly again when I put my trusty ABIT back in.

i once had a problem similar to yours kp1126. everything sounds likes it boots up fine (posts, hd spins up, etc), but nothing shows up on the monitor. it turns out i didnt have the video card pushed all the way down in the agp slot. perhaps the same thing is happening here. just a thought?

You know, I thought that might be a problem and I tried reseating the card. I even tried two pci cards and no luck. Thanks for the help.

my friend's old Pentium II 233Mhz also has the same problem and to be honest, I don't have any idea at all what the solution is, even I'm popularly known as computer hardware geek among my firiends, heheeheh (spent 2 days with nothin's solved)... So I hope somebody will give us some solution with this thread. Thanks

I have a similar problem with my EPOX 8kha+ and KDS VisSen monitor. I don't think it is a problem with the monitor. When I plug in the monitor cable to the video card port it must be almost all the way out in-order to get a signal. Weird!!! I figured this out by just wiggling it in the socket. It is like one of the pins is not working in the adapter. It must be almost un plugged for the monitor to get a signal.

Give it a shot.

kp: can you give some details on your computer? What mobo? I have a similar problem with my K7S5A, but I think I have tried everything.

It is a DFI ca63 s370 mobo w/ 933 cpu, crucial 256mb, Matrox g450, 3com nic, sb live 5.1, and usb pci card. I am 110% sure it has nothing to do with any of my components, because the same exact setup is working right now. I even tried booting with only the vid card. The only difference is I am using my Abit mb instead. The guy who sold it to me said it the board might be picky with memory, but I was using crucial chips, so I'm not too hopeful on that. I'll do more troubleshooting later when I get another case to do some troubleshooting. Thanks for the input guys.

I have the exact same problem. Im running a Shuttle AK35GTR with XP 1900 and everything seems to boot fine, power fires up, video card even shows the green led (its a leadtek geforce 2 card) but no video signal.

Same components work in a different system, no idea what the deal is.

I've heard something about the screws sometimes shorting the board, so I plan on trying that out later tomorrow when I've got some time.

i had this problem with an A7V. i had to RMA the thing (luckily still covered by warranty & the vendor's tech people could duplicate the problem).
