Has anyone been able to boot successfully with their scsi cd-rom/cd-r drive with a WinXP cd?

I'm unable to get my scsi cd-rw to bootup...

(can't even get into DOS w/scsi drivers)......

Yeah, but I can't remember exactly how...

I believe I changed the boot order in Bios. I know that I never got the drive recognized from a dos prompt, and I know it wouldn't boot selecting boot from SCSI in the Bios. But I believe I simply changed the boot order to 'Just plain boot from CD 1st' and put the WinXP disk in (it's bootable).

HTH, I maybe wrong but give it a try...

none of the bios settings (scsi, cd-rom, floppy) will work. The bootup disk I made from WinME (b4 i formatted) doesn't load up scsi drivers, so I'm unable to access it in DOS.

Is there any type of bootable floppy that will start the winXP install for me on my scsi drive?

*all the hassle i go through to make a microsoft product worK! *

I had no problems with my Adaptec 2930UW and Yamaha 16/10/40. I just set it to SCSI and it booted right up.

bacillus::

does that only work for that adaptec card? I'm unsure of what card mine is, but I don't think it's adaptec, i think it's tekram.........

yeah those are for the adaptec card .
go to the tekram site & download the dos drivers for your card & substuite the adaptec driver for the tekram one(most likely aspiuwf.sys and trmcd.sys files) on your boot disk!

If your Tekram card is bootable all you need to do is this.

Boot your computer.
When you get to the SCSI boot up screen hit F2.
Go into your SCSI BIOS and select Settings (don?t remember correct wording).
Set to boot from CD.
Save settings and reboot.
Install Win XP

K, i did the scsi bios change. The CD is detected, and gives the option to "press 0" to boot w/no emulation. When I do boot the CD, it freezes and I have to restart?

Is there a way to remedy this prob.?

Thats all you should have to do.

Hit 0 and then hit return (it should boot up)

If it dont your CD may be bad, or if you have more than one SCSI CD it may be looking at the reader???

Yes you can update your SCSI BIOS but I have yet to have a reason to do it.

I have installed Win2000 and XP with my Tekram the vary same way.

Good luck.

I have a scsi dvd & cd-rw.

I pressed 0 and it started the bootup. But right when it starts to read, it locks.

The CD i tried on a friend's IDE, and it worked :-0

So I'm thinking MAYBE a bios flash would remedy the prob. i sure hope so......:::

errR!!!! I thought scsi was the way to go! ;-) hehehe
