PATA and SATA are both IDE as far as I have read.
As far as which is faster, well all things being equal, they will be the same. The interface of both SCSI and SATA allow more bandwidth than a single drive can produce.
SCSI has more advantages once you get into more drives in the chain. U320 SCSI has more bandwidth than even SATA II, as well as being able to do multiple requests at the same time etc.
On a home computer, most of the time I would doubt you would ever notice a difference between them. Get a server with 5-15 drives in RAID 5, etc, and the SCSI outperform SATA.
