Scythe Ninja Plus Problem

Hi, the other day I got in my E6600 with an ASRock 775Dual-VSTA for my motherboard. I bought some AS5 and went to put everything together, and I ran into a major problem. In order to get the Ninja to mount to the mobo I had to lay the motherboard down outside of the case and physically put all my body weight and then some onto the top of the Ninja and quickly flip the hooks into place.

Now that can't be good. I'm didn't care if I broke the mobo or not because I'll be getting a new one in a month or two. However, I'm worried that I won't be able to dismantle it when the new motherboard arrives.

Can anyone tell me if it's just a pain in the butt to put the Ninjas on or if there is something else wrong here? Also, any suggestions on how to get it off would be great too!

I had a similar problem, but if you did what I did you might of damaged it.

I hooked the top site and then tried to hook the other side. Basically it was uneven and i was trying to force it. I just pushed it forward and it evented out. Installation was pretty easy besides that.

I had trouble installing it but not THAT much trouble. You know the little rails that screw onto the backplate? Do you think you might have put them on backwards?

No i definitely put it on correctly. I checked the website and the diagrams very thoroughly.

Vhx, I did the same thing you did. I hooked two clips and then finally got the other two. I did manage to bend the top fins slightly but I just bent them back.

What did you do to damage yours?

I didn't damage it, but I was close to forcing it with all my body weight. But realized it was uneven before I did so. Like I said, what I did was pushed the bottom of the Ninja towards the side that was clipped, then it evened out. Therefore I was able to lock it with little effort.

If the bottom is only partially covering the core it could be damaged by heat. Or if you forced it on an uneven portion it could create a pressure point that could crack the core given enough time.
