It's a reference to problems that many Seagate drives experienced in December/January. The drives would lock up after a certain number of internal journal entries. The first firmware "fix" ended up damaging even more drives.

The problem drives have pretty much been flushed out of the distribution system now -- especially if you buy from high volume vendors like Fry's -- but the fiasco left a lot of people wary of Seagates large drives. In any case, you can download a
a utility from Seagate that will tell you whether or not your drive might be in jeopardy.
