tealk - at this point, it ain't always about the $/GB.
Rather, the minimum $ for a new / replacement HD.

At 160GB, it is way bigger than many, many millions of people need.
Many people are very happy, believe it or not, with only 10GB, 20GB or 40GB.
Not exactly power users!

They'd rather be spending $5 or $10 for a smaller new HD.
Rather than $40 for 160GB that they'll never, ever come close to filling.

Plus a 160GB drive is good for adding to a TiVo. You can record practically forever (non-HD) with that plus the original drive.
