TigerDirect has positive and negatives, all anyone seems to remember are the negatives, and a lot of people flaming them have never bought from them. The issue stems from the fact that the rebates are manufacturer rebates, and sometimes the manufacturers themselves are sketchy and don't fulfill the rebates (or cause a lot of headache doing so).

I've gotten all of my rebates for items I purchased from them, and Seagate is reputable, so this is a very good deal in my opinion. You just want to be careful with no-name products.

Tiger Direct has positives and negatives but the are plenty of good vendors with great pricing out there who are nowhere near as negative as Tiger Direct. I've ordered twice from Tiger Direct in the past and will never order from them again due to product misrepresentation and very poor customer service. In my book, there's no reason to even risk dealing with vendors like this. YMMV, caveat emptor, and all that jazz.

Anyone have any good/bad experiences with onrebate.com? It seems kind of like a pain that they don't just give you the rebate form, but rather an information form telling you to go fill out stuff at the website. Why not just give us the stupid form?
This price isn't that remarkable, given other prices that have been listed lately. I may just wait for another one, not even bother with TD.

My take is that the rebate is with Seagate...if thats the case I don't have a problem with it. My last rebate from Seagate came in about 4 to 5 weeks. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

All seagate retail drives come with 5 year warranties now.

I wouldn't rag on TD so much (although their Canadian counterpart isn't very good). They generally get the job done fine, but they are no NE or ZZF.

Rebate is thru Tiger. Seagate's rebate do not use Onrebate. Seagate's rebate, you mail it in to El Paso, TX.

dumb question but what is the purpose of tiger direct giving you a rebate where you have to go to another site to get the rebate form? Defeats the whole purpose in my estimation. I was seriously considering this but when they have this "middleman" rebate center involved makes me wonder if they are trying to pull something. I have had extremely good luck with seagate rebates but this one i just don't feel comfortable with.

Probably to early to tell if someone has got a rebate from this particular offering.

Has anyone ever went through this methology to get a rebate (using onrebate.com) and can vouch one way or the other whether its sound....

thanks

I've got all 3 of the rebates for my 1st time order from TD. 2 of them came from onrebate.com which they sent me thru PayPal, really cool.

Their S & H is kinda expensive.

Want to know if I should jump on this, looks like the rebate does go through OnRebate.com who I have no experience with, is this credible or what?

Seagate's rebate house screwed me on a purchase from Fry's. Still trying to get those bastards to cough up the rest of the money.

Anybody with rebate problems that you can back up with proof should contact the FTC's site and file a complaint. The have a section just about rebates.
