had some more detailed information about this drive, 11ms seek time, thought 7200.9's had 8.5ish???

Either way, good post OP, tempted to buy this over the 400GB IDE.

I don't think you can trust dealtime's information.

I went to seagate.com and searched for that model.
It is indeed SATAII and it is 8ms seek time.

I ordered the HD from Outpost Friday night, received confirmation this morning. I live in So Cal, saw that at the B&M Fry's they have a $79.99 Maxtor 250Gb,SATA 150, 8mb cache. Closest Fry's for me is 70 miles so for me the price difference is negated by the gas money.

IMHO although Maxtor is now a part of Seagate, I rather have the Seagate with its 16 mb cache,5 year warranty, RK (retail kit with SATA cable and power cable, etc. ) and SATA300 capabilities. But for those who didn't get in on the Outpost deal there is the the Maxtor.

$0.33 per GB is very good imo.
AND, it seems like everybody has trouble to report with all manufacturers; but the occasional Seagate problem seems to be in the minority. And that is good news.
