I've had one these drive for a couple of weeks. I'm really impressed with its speed and low noise. I've benchmarked against my 74Gb Raptor boot drive and it beats it consistently (I guess I need to defrag my boot drive and run it again )

It comes already jumpered for SATA 150, for SATA II it requires removing the jumper altogether but in short yes these are backward compatible (I'm using mine at SATA 150).

my understanding is that the head structure is simpler and the drives actually have fewer moving parts, making them a. more reliable and b. cheaper to manufacture.
