My buddy and I just picked up the last two at the Mishawaka, IN CC. They are both 7200.10s. They rang up $99 and I double checked to make sure they were the correct model that was listed on the rebate. You can't beat 500GB 7200.10s for $60!

14:30 Stopped by Circuit City, they had at least four, with the price label on the shelf $99.99 - $40 MIR, Net = $59.99 -- bought two
Paid for one for my GF in cash
Paid for one for myself with debit

1600 Returned home, read the thread. Noticed about the person who "took the tag." Anticipating trouble with the rebate I drove back with my camera to take a photo of the tag. Tag gone -- replaced with straight $99.00 tag.

1615 Talked to manager who seemed to be aware of the preceding tag and price matched the pair to $59.99

1625 Got totally drenched by T-storm on way back to car in parking lot.

Yellow box....now I have to go back though the thread to find out how to tell if it's a 7200.10

I do have to say this: Circuit City has been, in the past, one of the nastiest places on earth, in my humble opinion. Yet I've had two reasons to talk with managers in the past month and both were well received, and professionally handled. One admitted that CC has a tarnished reputation and is working hard to remedy that -- I like that.

Was denied today at Staples for a price match. They were willing to match $99 but not honor a rebate, so I passed. I will go to CC tomorrow to pick up the drive I bought online and hope I can get them to give me the $59 price without rebate since I will have paid $169 and if they make a price adjusatment, from what I am reading on here, that will automatically disqualify me for the $40 rebate.

Well I picked up the one I ordered from CC online at the store Friday. She was checking my email confirmation and was going to send me on my way after my card was charged $175 after tax. I was like wait a minute here. That drive is supposed to ring up at $99 as I have a photocopy of the tag at $99 with a 40MIR. SHe starts looking at it and starts fidgeting. I was almost about to start saying that it is total BS to try a bait and switch routine when the drive is clearly supposed to be $60 after rebate and they are scamming customers. She starts looking over my photocopied price tag, and she starts asking ME questions, like "Where did you get this?", "Which store was this from?". I told her the other store where I live found one of these tags but I didnt tell her it was a scan from that tag as I didn;t know if they could determine the store the scan was from was out of state or something so I stated pretty vague and changed the subject to take the pressuree off of me, as I was thinking I was going to get shot down. SHe did the price adjustment and then I asked if this will affect the rebate as it says rebate can be denied if there is a price match and she said she didn;t see that requirement in the rebate. I checked today and the rebate does say rebate can be denied if there is a price adjustment (which in my case there was, so this goes back to me thinking it's CC's way of scamming people out of $40 since they can deny my rebate. I may go to the other store in my area and complain to the manager and maybe get the price adjusted for the rebate as well.

Perhaps someone who accidentally had a tag showing the $99 - $40 mail in rebate fall into their pocket could scan it and post it, if that's allowed.

Knowing CC the rebates will, most likely, be disallowed - but that tag might hold real power when going to your local CC -- it did for me.

Might be worth a try..... just a thought

CC is beginning to look and smell like C_ap USA. Hidden this, unwritten that. They jack up the price, then tease you with multiple rebates. Just a matter of time before they get nailed with a class action lawsuit with this minimum price garbage. I now have better luck with PM from Staples and Office Depot.

FW'ers are reporting rejected rebates left and right for IPP (invalid purchase price). As discussed, the price was set at $127 and if you bought it for $99, then you're going to get rejected. It seems likely that you can fight this, but is it worth the hassle?

Received email saying my $40 rebate was received and was being processed..clicked on link and here is the following bad news:

In the past when I bought a rebate deal instore and did not a rebate form printed out I just printed off the rebate form off CC's site and it was approved with no problem..NOT THIS TIME!!

Anyone else get this or maybe lucky enough to get approved..

My rebate which was an "on line" submission is still being processed. I suspect that when they get my mail in portion and see the $99.99 price, I will be in the same boat as you.:frown:

I got mine for $99, but it doesn't say anything about a minimum purchase price on the rebate form anywhere. I'm gonna be pretty annoyed with CC if they deny my rebate. I would not have bought this drive if I knew it was going to be $100.

Don't be too annoyed, you can still return it. Also 100$ for a 500gb drive isnt too bad.

If your rebate was initially rejected as invalid price, you may want to check the online status of your rebate again. CC seems to have begun reversing the invalid rebates and changing their status to "in final processing."

This may be a groundswell effect from others at FW, SD etc. calling in to CC and the rebate handler with copies of the original marked down price tag showing the $99 price to be valid and the $40 rebate to be honored.

My on line submitted rebate was initially rejected (for no apparent reason). I called customer service today, and the agent asked me a few questions including what price I paid ($99.99 + tax). Then he changed the status to final processing. So I think if you are persistent, you will get the $40 rebate and the drive for $59.99.

I waited a week before I sent my rebate in after I heard about the rejections that were happening -- contemplating whether to return them or not.

Decided I had a lot of evidence in my favor (the $99.99-$40 = $59.99 tag scan from FW) so I went ahead and mailed it.

My rebate status is "entered and is scheduled for final processing" so it all looks good.

If you've been rejected, call em up and complain.
