I see it at 99.99 with free shipping. Even if you decide to get the free DVD+R's the shipping is still free for both. This is unusual, because these "free gifts" usually have the catch of paying for shipping. That's why I rarely want the free stuff unless the shipping is also free.

i'm sure they will... they always do. i ordered one a couple of days ago and will spring for the 2nd when it's cheaper. in a few months we'll start seeing more threads on the 400gb & 500gb, then the 750gb after that.

get it if you need it, it's a good price... plus the perpendicular thing is nice. i couldn't wait much longer with only ~300mb of free storage space.

No, Newegg doesn't have price protection. The way their prices change all the time that's all they'd do!

You can also try clearing cookies. IIRC Newegg (as well as other etailers like Amazon) has this funny deal where different people see different pricing, plus popular items can vary in pricing automatically.

Better prices are always around the corner but you can't wait forever. These drives are reputed to be some of the best currently available and the price is fair. Seems like the obvious choice for those needing storage.

Yup, you can wait for the next "thing" forever. The "better" deals recently are for older generation 300GB and 400GB drives. This is the latest 320GB with perpendicular recording - supposedly is faster than previous generation stuff due to higher density.

I've got one in my shopping cart... yes... no... yes... ARGGHHHH!!!

yeah i went ahead and ordered 2....this is a good deal (i looked back on FW and the lesser $/gb deals all involved rebates, one from TD *shudder*)

Basically, I bought two, and have been considering buying 8 more for my raid array, but I think I really want to wait and do that with some 500gb's

THanks hot deals, i hate you

Thanks for the link engineer. The review makes it look a little noisy and a bit on the hot side.

Seek noise was quite a different story. The 7200.9 sample had sharp, abrupt seeks, and this aspect was even more in this 7200.10. In fact, the peaks measured 34 dBA@1m, making it the first drive we've measured above 30 dBA@1m. The implementation of Automatic Acoustic Management (AAM) to reduce the seek noise is sorely missed.

A new record was set for the amount of power consumed at idle: The 7200.10 is the first drive we've seen that consumes more than 9 watts at idle. As this would suggest, the drive ran quite hot; by the end of the acoustic testing, during which the drive was resting on a nonconductive piece of foam, I was unable to touch the drive for more than a second or two. (Editor's Note: Wimp! ?) According to the internal thermal sensor, the drive temperature at this time was 53°C and climbing.

I'm in for 2, I don't want to wait for prices to come down on the 500 gigs.

2x 320gb for $200 with 50 dvd +r. Not bad at all!

thanks!
