Is this HD backward compatible with SATA 150? I'm considering getting this since its only an extra $7 from the SATA 150 one at fry's. Good choice? Should it run quieter and cooler at SATA 150 speed?

If this is SATA II, shouldn't it be 3GB/s and not 300mb/s?

Yes, via a jumper (not included). I have two of these. Been using one for a couple months and just got the other a week or so ago. Haven't had time to hook up and raid.

Not the quietest drive by all means. Use the 5% off when using paypal coupon or the new 10% off and you got a pretty good deal.

I got my first one for $115 after a 10% coupon and a $30 rebate a couple months ago. Just got my other from ZZF for $114.99. So this is only warm if you can use one of the available coupons IMO.

No it's 3Gb/s, which minus some error correction becomes 300MB/s. Not that any hard drive has a transfer rate at all close to even 150MB/s

7200.7-7200.9 are all extremely reliable, moreso than 'most' of the competing products from competitors. see storagereview.com's drive reliability survey. the 7200.7 (the oldest, therefore the most statistical entries received) has the most reliable rating by 8%, trailing the deskstar 180's.
