Odd, likewise the 160GB is priced differently from in the flyer, except in the wrong direction: $150 - $10 -$30 = 110 instead of 100.

Pretty decent on the 80GB though

Great price for a great drive that doesn't often go on sale. I especially love Seagates, since when they're running it doesn't sound like there's a team of gnomes sharpening axes in your box. And when they spin up in the middle of the night, and you awaken to the sound of steel on stone, don't you sometimes wonder if tonight's the night the gnomes come out and have their revenge on the human race?

This is a good deal. $40 is almost chump change these days and an 80GB is a nice backup. Plus, Seagate doesn't have the continual sales running like some fo the other brands so it's worth grabbing one when they do have a deal.

I got a Seagate 120 several months ago from Best Buy with a dual rebate. Thie first showed up in under a month and the second took about 9 weeks. I am running one HD of each of the big 3, Seagate, Maxtor, and WD. The Seagate is the quietest although the Maxtor isn't bad.

I've heard a lot of people say that newer Maxtors are getting quieter, but my experience is that they are still the loudest of the loud. Maybe the past few drives I have purchased were from earlier production runs. (?) Still, if you need a cheap drive, Maxtors are good since they are so often on sale. And I find they (Maxtor) are very reliable. But I would take a Seagate over anything else any day of the week.

In-store, this was listed as $30 rebate plus $10 BB gift card, which is basically $59 after rebate with a gift card. Would it be possible to buy it in store, get the $10 gift card, and use both the $30 and $20 rebates?

Online rebate forms will only work with online purchases. This pertains only to best buy and basically no other company. Really strict rebate program, the most strict out of these large retailers.

I haven't delt with BB in a long time, since they would not do some price matching, ( 3+ years )

Perhaps thay've stopped this policy since the online rebates for this both say that they are good for purchases made at bestbuy.com or Best Buy retail stores.

picked one up from the local BB. seems like it will come out to 50 from b&m since the 20 isnt valid for retail stores.

in the store it said 89.99 - 49 (checks). on the reciept it just printed out a rebate for $30.

i have 4 of these... they are the quietest drive you can buy and i have them all running 24-7 (maybe shut down once a month for updates) and they all seem to be running fine.

Wow! They changed the entire $20 rebate terms and conditions since this morning. When I posted this they both said valid for purchases online or in-store and there was none of the price match stuff, etc. Sneaky, sneaky.

It didn't make sense that they were advertising one thing in the paper and had it entirely different online with no explanation. Now that they changed the terms I understand.
