I want to run one of these in an USB 2.0 enclosure for my laptop. Anyone have any thoughts on heat being an issue with these drives? Am i safe or courting trouble with a 7200 rpm drive?

We have reviewed your order and although we had anticipated being able to
ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay and will not

Has anyone received the HD yet ... ??? Mine won't be shiped out until the 30th also.... I called Dell and they gave me no rhyme or reason for the delay .... 3 weeks for a backordered item seems excessive... thank goodness for fedex overnight.....

I also got the July 30th email. Gee, we'll give you free overnite but were gonna wait 2 1/2 weeks before we ship it. Still a good deal, just wish I didn't have to wait another 2 weeks to get it.

*ARGH* ... I just got my email delaying the order to be shipped on the 30th for the first drive that I ordered .... Just waitin for the email for the second drive ... I shoulda known not to order from Dell again ... they did this to me Chrismas and delayed my order until Jan 10th or something ... I cancel the order and then they shipped it anyways .. I HOPE YOU DELL REPS ARE READING THIS RIGHT NOW .. I think ive learned my lesson and will remember to add about a month wait time to get my products when I order from Dell. :|

I just got the same notification and just for the hell of it I checked Dell's order status and low and behold ...it actually shipped out yesterday .....I have the tracking # and It will be on my door today ...Wooo Hooo maybe it was just a glitch with Dell who knows ...Im sooooo happy...

I never got the delayed until 7/30 email, but checked my order status this morning and found out it was shipped yesterday so I should get it sometime today. Shipped via Airborne Express - out for delivery today. Yay!!

I placed my order Friday (7/12) afternoon around 1-2pm CST if that helps.

Drove home at lunch and it was there, delivered at 8:26AM. Bare OEM drive. I was very close to ordering the same drive from newegg last night for $102 but held off because I wouldn't have got it by the weekend. Glad I waited. Still a little miffed at Dell. I had checked my status on their web page around 7:00 this morning and it showed "delayed". Then it gets develivered 1 1/2 hours later.
I guess I will build that system this weekend. Anandtech deals on CPU, motherboard, ram, and HD.

I just checked the warranty info on my drive and it shows:

In Warranty
Expiration 10-AUG-2005

I guess it doesn't matter if it's oem or retail, warranty-wise.

Just got home and guess what I see, two of my Seagate HDs that were delivered, was kind of ticked to find out they are OEM, but then checked warranty info and I am good till Aug 11, 2005!! Great deal on two great HDs.
