quite true, and thats why mail in rebates are used. If the price was cut by 30 dollars, thats a guaranteed 100% loss of 30 dollars on every item. If a mail in rebate is used, some people wont even bother with it, and those that do have to deal with long delays and arguing with csrs if they want to get their money back. So, it sucks for us but it probably wont be changing anytime soon. so, i guess a fart in the general direction of whereever the rebate is going is in order

Don't forget, too, that if they sell 10K units during this sale (nationwide), that's $300K of rebate money they could put into short term investment (and make some money), or just $300K of short term cash flow they have to use, all at our expense.

Doesn't sound like a whole lot, in the bigger scheme of things, but that's just one item, during one week's sale. Imagine what it comes out to be with larger rebate amounts, over 8 week's worth of sales with rebates? :Q

I work for frito lay and there is a superbowl deal, 3 12packs of soda and 3 backs of chips that you would get free with a $10 rebate. Well from past rebate sales similar to this one, less the 20% of rebates were redeemed, also they take out a insurance policy if it goes over 20%. Im sure electronics rebates have a higher return, but just to give a example of why its done.

Niagra is the better of the two currently. If you call the El Paso number, they'll play an automated message regarding the big delay with past due rebates.

My rebate is from october. A month ago it said something stupid like status "not recieved" but they had a record for me still. So I had to call them and they checked and said it all looked fine and would ship check soon. Now I check online again and the system never heard of me. So I call again they run me through the ringer again and finally say I was approved 2 days ago. (The last big rebate did the exact same thing). So I'm not supposed to yell because it was processed 2 days ago. I am convinced if I didn't call and grind these guys the check would never get written. To me thats fraud. Anyone know of a good class action lawsuit or how to start one. I'm tired of this crap. If you do what is stated in the agreement then you shouldn't need to do any more. And if you do they should pay for your time to the point its not worth screwing up or playing the fraud game.

I stand corrected. My rebate came today... after 4 months w/o calling them. I hope my other 2 will come too.
