If you need a few cheap drives with 5 year warranty and no rebate to deal with this is a very nice deal. I believe they are retail but am unsure.

UPDATE: Some folks already recieved theirs and it is OEM. Still a good deal.

Yes, you can checkout and get the $20 off then go back and order another one. The shipping is free so you can do it till your satiated. Google checkout will keep taking the $20 off each order.

This 80GB drive is $33 after GCO.

If you really want more than one, you'd be better off getting the 160gb one for $48 after GCO or the 250gb one for $68.

Unless, of course, you want two separate drives for two separate computers.

I also got in on this a week ago... twice. Figured I could do a 160GB RAID-0 array for $65.

Add a third drive and get a very nice speed boost over 2.

Pretty positive they are retail or would say OEM. Regardless with Seagate the warranty is still 5 years.

Set it up with software RAID 0, and get an additional 10-20%. CPUs are faster than most of the IDE/SATA RAID controller chips.

eh, was hoping it would be retail since they don't mention it as OEM. The date on the drives are current right?

yes, warranty expiration 31-Oct-2011

they're nice actually. i like that they're thinner than my 400gb 7200.10's and older 80gb 7200.7's -- good for cooling.

how can google afford to give away $20 every time someone uses their checkout?

The millions they are spending on the $10 & $20 off will end up making them far more money in the long run. IMO google is setting itself up as the new preferred checkout system over specifically Paypal which is a good thing. Like paypal did to garner custumers some 8 years ago when they started out they gave away $20 then $10 then $5 for referral signups. Google is doing the same thing now. In the future there is no doubt in my mind that google will be offering itself as the number one alternative to paypal as an online payment service as well as fast checkout for every vender on the planet. Enjoy the battle and reap the rewards. Google will save you a lot of money initially until it kicks paypals fat greedy rear and hopefully ebays greedy rear will be next. Yes, I know ebay owns paypal...

i already like GCO better than paypal, their login is fast, unintrusive and most of all easy. logging in paypal gives me a stupid ad, when i choose to use credit card it keeps asking me if i am sure because they want to touch my bank account directly, little nuisances like these are making GCO a winner

Ditto that EKKC. Paypal pain in the arse and real greedy just like ebay became over the years. Both services used to be oh about 30x less expensive to use. I am hoping google will put a stop to the ebay paypal money gouging machine with some healthy competition. I know as soon as google offers itself as an alternative on ebay for checkout etc, I will be using it exclusively.

You really think that eBay will allow a google checkout? I don't. Why invite competition when you don't have to. I am sure google is mulling over the idea of it, but it won't be easy.
Same reasoning that Fry's B&M doesn't allow American Express cards to be used. Amex's rates are quite a bit higher than Visa or Mastercard, and that would take a bigger chunk out of their pockets.
