8 to 10 weeks my arse. even given that they didn't get it until a week after i mailed it, they're still 4 weeks late. assholes.

You should call them up and tell them that you will be contacting your lawyer to get this resolved if the check doesn't arrive. This has worked for a buddy of mine. He got it within a couple days...lol

I'm in the same boat. The rebates I send to the house in Niagra Falls always come back quick. It's this place in El Paso that tries to screw everyone over.

Because the 'nucks run the NF place. They're kind and gentle people who merely need money to buy a new hockey stick, snow tires and moose-guard for the front of their car.

Yea they sent me a stupid postcard a few days ago saying my drive isn't a retail model. If it's not a retail model, how did I send them the UPC? They know damn well the rebate is good, they just hope I will not resubmit it.

Here's my timeline:
10/14 Get drive and send in rebate
10/20 They say my rebate is valid
12/10 They say the serial number is invalid
12/12 They say they'll have a team look into it, and if it's valid it will be sent out in 7-10 days
12/14 Relisted as valid
12/29 Told "keep waiting"
12/29 Send off a complaint to the BBB

Seriously, everyone send off a complaint to the BBB about "Parago" (the company processing the complaints). If the BBB gets a load of complaints all at once someone may find themselves in hot water.

Just checked mine, and all 3 $60 rebates have the "Invalid serial number" excuse. Ouch. I've sent off an email and at mental note to self to never use a Seagate rebate again.

I've been having a problem with them for my $60 rebate from a 200GB HD I bought. First on the site it said my rebate was valid and scheduled for processing. It said this for a few weeks until all of the sudden it changed "invalid serial number." I called them up and gave them my serial number and they told me my serial was in fact valid and it would be fixed, but the status on the website never changed. A few days later I called back and gave them the serial number again. This time the guy said he was having trouble validating it and that it would be escalated to a "higher department." He told me that regardless of whether they are able to fix it or not, I would be contacted within 10 days. Of course, after 10 days it still wasn't fixed and I hadn't heard a word either. So I called up again, told them that this was my third time calling, gave them the serial, and now it looks like it is finally fixed. It now shows up as valid on the website. These people are pretty much criminals.

It's dissapointing to hear that a company so well known for their drives would choose such a crappy rebate service.

I am having a big problem too that my serial number is invaild. I have gotten 2 post cards now, saying that my rebate has an invalid serial number.

I have gotten thru twice and talked to them and they both said that i would get my check. Of course i get disconnected about 3 times before i reach someone.

Does contacting the BBB really work?

I've done lots of rebates over the years and had very few problems, but since I started printing my envolopes out on the printer instead of hand addressing them I've noticed things come back even faster. Don't know how things work in a rebate processing house, but I figure that given the choice people are going to grab the nextly printed out envelopes before the scribbled ones in hopes what's inside will be easier to read.

Just a thought.
