Sears Closeout Projection TV Sony

Sears has a closeout price on a Sony 43" silver projection tv. There ticket says $1399. but when they pull it up on the computer it comes up $1199.! My store had 1 on display and 1 in a box. Probably old model but new ones cost $400.more. There is a bottom cabinet needed which I got an extra 10% off $129.-$13.
Been shopping for 2 weeks this is a great price. I'm looking at my receipt but don't see any # indentifing the set but I'm sure they ony have 1 silver 43" Sony for that price. Spring Hill FL store.

if its HDTV 1080i, id get it, otherwise, im not a big fan or projection....
id get a WEGA instead...

The check for my tax refund will only be $300. It is only good for a 20" TV. Sniff...

my RCA 32" was $320 @ Sears, with free TV stand
plus $20 delivery charge...

and its not a piece of crap either -- 2 tuner pip, svideo, component video inputs, etc

so you should be able to get something more than 20" tv for your $300 =)

I used to work at Sears in electronics during college. The reason the price came up lower at the register is a sales ploy. We didn't put the signs out to make you think you were getting a better deal.

Sears sells many low end tv's. The best brand we carry is Sony. We normally got a lot of Zeniths and RCAs back as returns. They have some quality control problems.

Last years model of that 43" went for around 800 bucks when it was on closeout. But that was at our store. Every store is different. $1199 is still a pretty good price for that tv.

That's a good price if it included the stand. I remember getting that tv about a year ago with the stand at that price at circuit city. You just have to spend the time to haggle.

But like others have said, its better to get a direct view 36" for that price. The 43" looks ok at first but the colors are really washed out. Plus you have to view it directly straight on or you get variances in contrast..

I've got this same set (not sure of the exact model number, it's at work and I didn't bring it with me today )...had it for about two years now. I've been quite happy with it - not sure where this "washed out" colors stuff is coming from.

My only regret is that I didn't get a widescreen, but that would have been more $$.

Oh, the stand was sold separately - at least at the time I purchased it. I think it was around $150.

Great price. I almost bought one from Circuit City for $1399 a few months ago but ended up getting a Digital Ready Toshiba 43" instead. Direct view tv's are nice, but 36" ones are too damn heavy and have less viewing area. I just couldn't justify spending the same amount of money for a smaller tv. These new projection tv's are way better than what I remembered from viewing friend's and relatives' projection tvs. Colors are bright and images are very sharp, not washed out and blurry like older models. Just remember to crank your contrast down and properly calibrate your tv with Avia or Video Essentials.
