We were in Savannah, GA going to the VW dealer (dipstick funnel snapped in half, as usual for VW's....those of you who have/had one, you'll know what I mean). So, armed with a copy we'd printed off the web ad this morning, we went by the Sears there and they said they were still honoring the price mistake, but had "sold out on Saturday". Wouldn't sell us the display model.
So, on the way home, we drove through Statesboro. On a whim, we stopped at a small, and I mean very small, Sears outlet there in the dinky thing they refer to as a mall. Lo and behold, they had quite a few in stock. Manager said he'd not heard of the price mistake or anything. But he pulled up the sales flyer online and the price was still there. (This after showing him the sales flyer we'd printed this morning, and after finding out they still had some in stock.)
He graciously sold one to each of us (my fiancee and myself) for the $34.95 each. They'll make great Christmas presents, and if not, we'll just exhange them just after Christmas. Funny thing though, as we were exiting, we overheard the store employees lining up to buy the remaining ones. Seems this store was happy to sell to whomever spoke up. Of couse, it wasn't as bad as the clerk who checked us out lamenting she'd just bought one 2 weeks ago at regular price less employee discount.
