Picked up a drill today.. On the way to the cashier's station, I noticed a 33 gallon, 6 hp compressor sitting in the aisle that was clearanced. Normally $329.99, marked down to $164.00.

So, I got a compressor also.

Both items work great. My store only had like 5-6 of the drills.

YOU (not them) get the choice of a rain check, next higher priced item for the same price or an item with the same discount as the one on sale. Again, its YOUR choice not theirs. Works like a charm - I usually shoot for the next higher priced item for the same price, especially during these 50% off sales.

Hate to dispute, but this is NOT Sears' policy at least not according Sears corporate and to the two stores I visited. I specifically asked if I could get another comparable drill for the same price since and both stores I visited stated absolutely not because this is special purchase item and the ad clearly states quantities are limited. The manager at the first store even gave me and another guy who also wanted one of the drills a printed copy of their out of stock store policy. Basically is states that Sears does not offer substitute products for sale,clearance, catalog, or special purchase items. It states you are entitled to a rain check valid for 90 days from date of issue and if you would lie a rain check you need to fill out the bottom portion of this printout and present it to any cashier during the advertised sale period. I was gven two options. First they would give me a raincheck as decribed above and I could buy at the sale price for up to 90 days if the item was restocked. However, the manager assured me that they never restock these "special buys" within the 90 period. Second, they would order one from Sears.com and have it shipped to my home for free. I seleted Sears.com

I got the 16.8 Volt drill for $62.00 recently at Sears. They had it on sale for a couple of weeks. Used it alot, been a great drill! Also for those of you who buy alot of tools, join the free Craftsman club to get ocassional discounts.

Well, either my store is being very generous or they recently changed the policy (since Feb). I generally will not go early to Sears during these sales because of the mob of people. The last ones they had (around Christmas and in Feb) I've gone up there in the afternoon and they had nothing left. Got myself "upgrades" on a drill bit set, a vice and a circular saw. I've was never turned down or given a hard time about it.

I probably should now add - YMMV.

I agree and confirm what safety said- The 39.99 drill was out of stock so they substituted the 18.0 V model (It was on sale for $79.99) which made deal deal flaming hot. Continue to ask around if they state you will get a raincheck - The second guy I asked made the substitution!!

Man you guys are lucky. I wanted the 18V drill and also thought that they would substitute when they ran out. Oh well, as you stated YMMV

I just bought the 16.8v drill kit for $62.00. They were out of the standalone drill, so they substituted the drill kit which consisted of:
16.8 drill
work light
soft case
20pc bit set

Good deal!
