Seasonic 380w+8800gts 320mb?

My current system is as follows:

AMD AM2 A64 X2 3800+
2x512mb OCZ DDR2 800
160gb WD hd
Wireless card
X-Fi
All powered by a Seasonic S12 380w

If I were to add a 8800gts 320 in this mix how would it holdup? Even when I OC the cpu to 2.4ghz @ 1.4v (and corresponding the ram to about 900ish @ 2v)? What if I overclocked the 8800gts as well, both in the stock config and overclocked config?

I'm pretty sure it will be fine with everything at stock speeds, but not so sure about when overclocked.

You 3.3 & 5v have 130w dedicated so that leaves around 250w tops for the 12v rail, /12 = 20a at most. I'd go for another psu with at least 26a on the 12v rail

Not a recommendation per sa, but 20a is lean for a GTS even at stock!

Well according to specs the Seasonic has 10amps on one 12v rail and 15 on the other, so I'd think Id have slightly more than 20, and I thought that since it was a higher quality psu I would be able to get by.

No no no, the psu already has 130w reserved for the other rails leaving only 250w left, thats 20a at best without taking overhead into a/c...check out the other thread with the guy who has a GTS

could you be a little more specific, please, SolMiester. I am in a similar situation and uh there are a lot of GTS threads and no other relevant threads popped up when I searched for Seasonic on this or the General Hardware forums.

A friend of mine with a system that resembles yours bought a 8800GTS 320 and had a older Thermaltake 420W build for AGP systems of 4 years back. The card worked flawlessly, but he later bought a new Fortron PSU with digital display of the power consumed. To his shock, at maximum it was 238W. You probably should be fine.

Seriously. There's "only" 20A of capacity left on the 12V lines? That's 240W! The 8800GTX is around 150W...

See the link in my sig. It's very hard to get over ~250-300W of usage in a single-CPU, single-GPU system unless you overclock and overvolt considerably.

According to the Anandtech articles, Matthias, the 8800gts 320 mb consumes 160 idle and around 270 at max, I do not think I would be ok.

Those wattage numbers are for the whole system. A 8800 GTS 320mb by itself will never draw more than 150 watts:
