It has been almost 2 weeks.
Let me say that Seasonic as a company rocks!
I mean they totally rock!
I cannot say enough to let you all know they are a fantastic company!
They actually care about the little guy.

Here is what they finally did for me.
This was after many many contacts with them.
I finally just boxed the PC up and sent it to them.
After examining the PC they sent it back and with-in 48 hrs I had all the stuff brand new that was destroyed by there PSU.
I also got a written apology!

The hooked me up with a new Asus M2NPV-VM - AM2 X2 4600+.
Then they hpoked me up with a new Seasonic S12 600watt PSU.

I couldn`t be more pleased with the outcome.
SEASONIC UBER ROXS!

Glad they fixed the problem. I don't know if the "many many contacts" part is good, but at least they stood up and took care of it.

I knew this was coming.

EDIT: Now you must do your duty and become a viral marketer. No, seriously, stuff like this has to be rewarded.

Why?? A good SMPS should never kill hardware.

I'm glad Seasonic took care of business but they should have never had to.

Nothing's perfect, as much as we would like it to be so.

Remind me not to help you up if you ever accidentally falldown. I've never owned a seasonic, but their actions are commendable and it makes me consider them when it comes time to purchase a PSU.

never thought i would see the day but galvanized is absolutely 100% in his assessment!
A good SMPS should never kill hardware!

Then again thats another reason not to scrimp on any purchase of a PSU!

And all things made by humans have a chance of fault. Think PC Power and Cooling or Zippy never made a bad one?

Impressive, though as was mentioned, the fact that it blew up in the first place scares me...

I think the apology was the most amazing part of the story/
And by having the whole PC they can better assess what happened.

I mean - component stuff like electrolytics do go sometimes.
AC power spike?

You are trivializing what happened to qwerty and his PC by a supposedly high end power supply.

I will tell you right now I have heard of Zippy and PC Power & Cooling having bad PSU`s.
But I have never heard of a Zippy or a PC Power & Cooling PSU taking out the mobo and the CPU when the PC failed........

So in that regards no! I have personally never heard of that same thing happening with iether PSU`s....
I am not saying it can`t happen..becuase that would be foolish to say.
But I will tell you that I have heard of several instances where a Seasonic PSU have taken out hardware.

Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I would love to buy a PS from a company that shows that if anything did happen(which it appears to rarely happen in the first place) their customer support would be more than willing to make things right.

The support you get when things don't go right is what really define a company for me. For instance, I was not pleased with the support I got from Seagate. Because of this, it is highly likely my next drive will not be a Seagate.

You may have seen cases of Seasonic power supplies taking out the whole computer, but I have not. I normally only hear rave reviews about people who own their power supplies. Couple this with the awesome customer service in this case and you have a company I would like to buy a product from.

No company can guarantee their product will work perfectly 100% of the time. But the company that backs up their product with that type of service obviously try to make their company as good as it can be.

The PSU should never have blown, this is true. However Seasonic did do the right thing in replacing the parts it damaged (more than replacing, a modest upgrade by the looks of things). So seasonic PSUs aren't perfect but they will take responsability for their mistakes.

If other companies do not act similary then there would be a case to start making the "seasonic roxz" banners, but i suspect that most of the other high end ones would. This is the standard PSU companies should be held to when the PSU fails catestrophically imo.

I would say MAYBE PCPnC would do it, but any others I would bet would give you a very hard time at the least. Of course, I have not had a PS fail ::knocks on wood:: so I can't really say I can speak from experience.

Just a note-- the OP took the initiative in solving this issue it was NOT Seasonic that took the initiative.

Here is what they finally did for me.

After examining the PC they sent it back and with-in 48 hrs I had all the stuff brand new that was destroyed by there PSU.
I also got a written apology!

In my opinion it should have been Seasonic that took the initiative.
As it was the OP after many contacts with Seasonic FINALLY boxed his PC and sent it to Seasonic.
Seeing as how it literally took a couple weeks to resolve this I see no reason at all to give Seasonic much praise for how they handled the issue.

It was nice there was a happy ending but it was because of the tenacity of the OP. Nothing more nothing less!
