Shipment of 100% perfect PSUs + 1 pissed off/late courier driver or loader == nothing is ever as it seems.

This is a forum of problems. So its no suprise than when people run into problems you hear about them here.

First and foremost, no manufactoring process is 100% and no quality assurance program has a 100% detection rate. There will be faulty devices that make it out into the wild. So with that out of the way, in a perfect world, the OP's computer should never have been blown up by the PSU but it can and does happen even with the best PSU's out there. While I have never heard of this happening with a Zippy or PC Power & Cooling PSU, I would not be surprised if someone comes on and says they know of just such a case.

Seasonic should be commended for sticking up to their products and admitting when they or their product is at fault. They made it up to the OP with replaced hardware. I do feel they should have done more than just replace all the lost hardware. I mean, the loss of the use of the computer is not a small deal.

We all said kudos to Seasonic but the OP did have to pursue it...Hard.

No PSU should kill hardware on it's way out!! Badcaps in Antec PSUs have been
known to kill HDD logic chips with 5V spikes at boot.

Over the last 5 years Zippy/Emacs warranty claims were <<< 1%.

Link me, via PM to one Zippy going down in the last year and I will send you a $10 via US Mail.

Get around more. It's happened.

But none of this is supposed to happen in the first place. And often times when it happens it's not even a fubar in the assembly process. All it takes is the PWM IC to fail and all hell can break loose. Combine that with an overheated 3.3V VR or something of the sort and destruction can certainly result.

The key is in how often it does or does not happen.

EDIT (result of GY's last post): I'll grant you, I can't find a failed Zippy that's taken out hardware, but PCP&C's are easy to find in Hardforums alone. But even perfect QC can not find a PSU that can potentially take out hardware. Even if burn in is at 100% load for 24 hour, that doesn't represent what might happen 6 months down the road.

Nice figure.
I suppose you acquired that figure from the in the same manner that I acquired my figure of 1 -2 %?
Same holds true for PC Power & Cooling Units also -- 1-2%.
Industry wide that is a very low figure.

oh - and it would be foolish to use the argument that zippy sells more PSU than PC Power & Cooling since you cannot back up that statement with any cold hard written on paper that are verifiable...unless we see somebody show up with a name such as zippy tech...lolol

Have fun!
