So, I recieved my Seasonic S12-600 about a week ago. I only had two SATA drives at the time, so I used one of the SATA lines. I just got a new SATA drive, so I ran the second SATA line down there, and noticed the SATA connectors on this line are all corroded! My case is not in a damp environment and the cable was kept at the top of the case, so I assume that means it was corroded from the factory.

This is the only thing wrong with the PSU. Would Seasonic RMA it and replace it for one corroded connector?

Edit: Pics!

One
Two

Can't see the corrosion too well in the pictures, it's much worse than it looks.

UPDATE: The SeaSonic rep contacted me, wanting pics. I sent him pics, and he said that he would refer me to the closest SeaSonic dealer for RMA. I waited three days with no more email contact. I emailed him back and he said "Hi, sorry for that" So I assume he forgot.

I was referred, and have sent it in for RMA. Can't wait to get it back!
SeaSonic customer service

Here's the better pic I sent the rep.

Yes they probably will.

Good thing you noticed it as the SATA power jack is not that strong and easy to break.
The corrosion might have made it hard to plug-in=a little too much effort and snap.

Seasonic is pretty good about RMAs, as I understand. And good on you for inspecting and noticing that.

I'm paranoid about these types of things. Even if that corrosion was cleaned off, I'd be worried that it extended to the joint of wire to pin=high resistance.
Corrosion(rust) never sleeps. It just gets worse.

I started using ProGold during assembly awhile back, it's a conductant/lubricant/protectant. Cards, RAM and plugs slide home so easy when it's used.
Deoxit is made to clean off corrosion but in this case I think a RMA is the best solution.

Sorry to see these pics.

I hope they at least repair it. I thought about rewiring the connector myself, but the connector they use = no go. It's molded plastic on the wire.

I have 5-year old PSUs in my closet that aren't corroded at all! They must have gotton it wet at the factory or something!?!

I sure with Seasonic will take your RMA- they've got a good reputation to keep...

Best to stay away from Seasonics as the more I read about them the more bad comments I I am seeing. I had a problem with one and will never buy another one.

^ Can't agree with that. They're definitely among the very best PSUs available. Period.

Here's hoping for a speedy RMA process

Hard to tell what caused that but certainly an attempt at cost-cutting on the connectors contributed to it. Seasonic should replace that no problem.

2-3 bad reports in a short space of time and suddenly one of the most respected brands on the marketplace is branded as 'stay away, problematic!'.

I look forward to having my Seasonic S12 600W arriving on monday/tuesday and I'll be following my pre-install check as usual.

I just ordered the S12 500, I hope it's adequate for a few upgrade cycles. I also hope it doesn't come with corroded connectors

I'm very sure it wasn't due to humidity. I keep my PC in a room with a dehumidifier 24/7, and only one of the 7 loose connectors was corroded. If it was humidity, there would most likely be more than just 1 corroded connector.

My guess is that the connector was corroded well before it ever became a permanent part of that PSU, and it slipped through QC. It happens. I certainly wouldn't avoid Seasonic PSUs because of one incident. Good to see they're replacing it, though cross shipping would have been better. It seems that fewer and fewer places are doing that nowadays.
