So the cop is stupid for enforcing a law the legislatures have passed? That makes sense. He's doing what he is told to do; enforce the law.

Don't worry, he sounds too young to be driving anyway.

You may be able to avoid the points on your driving record by going to traffic school. In many states, you can do that on line so you don't even have to put up with sitting around listening to a bad comedian all weekend.

Seatbelts work by clicking the two parts of the lock together.

Does traffic school apply in CA? Does that generally mediate the fine at all?

Funny that the court assigns a "bail amount" to a traffic citation.

Any penalty for paying this dumb fine, passing on the court date, and getting on with my life? I can't believe they charge a $10 fee to pay online.

But if other people foolishly don't want to wear theirs, it's their funeral and I could not care less. Nothing like reading in the newspaper about the big head-on accident on US 26 and seeing that all 5 people who died weren't wearing their seatbelt (while all the people who did survive were wearing theirs). Darwin in action. IMO, we should not interfere with the laws of nature.

...except that your tax dollars pay for the EMTs to scrape those people off the pavement and give them whatever medical attention they can until they die.

Or Click It and Ticket... it really doesnt matter to them. I have gotten 2 tickets in the past 5 years for no seatbelt... nothing else just no seatbelt.... both times I was wearing it, and told them so, and they just say no I wasnt. Both times I was found guilty, the one time I even proved to them there was no possible way the cop ever could have seen wether I was wearing a seatbelt.... Black car, black interior, tinted, black seat belt, black shirt.... and he could see? I had 2 pictures taken of me in the car from all different directions with and without the seatbelt, and even the judge agreed he couldnt tell wether I was or was not wearing my seat belt.... yet GUILTY. What a fvcking scam, their just out to bring in the department funds. And I do wear my seatbelt EVERYWHERE EVERYTIME because I was once saved from major injury by wearing my seatbelt.

I just hate people who are too lazy to use their seatbelts. It only takes 1 or 2 seconds to use. Just how hard is that to do?

I survived a "collison with a light pole" as a passenger almost 10 years ago by wearing a seat belt. Car was a total mess.

Here's a recent accident >>> 2 children killed in Miami SUV accident
None was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
Too bad, some people never learn.

Its a United States Department of Transportation initiative, in conjunction with state DoTs.

There was a big head-on awhile ago between two cars. Out of the nine people involved, four were wearing seatbelts. Guess who survived and who became road pizza?

Here in Connecticut there's always an unofficial "Click it or Ticket" campaign going on. They like to grab cars as they enter highway onramps from city streets or at the head of long exit ramps. It's a big money maker for the state, so they enforce it 24/7/365. And it DOES NOT add points to your license in Connecticut, it's a $37 fine (I think) for the first offense and it jumps up a lot, maybe $80 or so if they catch you again.

A $37 fine is far from a major money maker. In most cases, the fine does not cover, or barely covers, the expenses involved in issuing a dealing with it. So contrary to popular belief, cops aren't out there giving out tickets to rake in the money.

$37 is a lot of money preventable with a 2 second action.
Evar think that cops aren't out to get you, as much as they are to try to prevent you from doing something stupid?

Windsheild > your face. Every time.

What a better slogan.
