We will be in Seattle this weekend with a few hours each on Saturday and Sunday (daytime only) to sightsee. What is there to see besides Space Needle, Pike Place Market (including the first Starbucks store) and the Great Wheel.

There will be 5 adults and 2 kids (12 and 8).

Hehe, this is Seafair weekend so it's going to be a bit crazy. There will be some Navy ships you can tour down on the waterfront. The hydros will be racing on Lake Washington on Sunday (I think they practice Saturday too). The Blue Angels will be performing as well, you can catch their show either day since they also practice on Saturday. If you stay down by the waterfront traffic won't be too bad, just stay away from Lake Washington where the hydros are and Blue Angels are, unless you really wanna go down there and watch them.

See here: http://www.seafair.com/

There's the Seattle underground tour - basically, about 80 years ago the city burned down and they raised street level about a story when they rebuilt. You can go down in the "tunnels" that used to be ground level, see old store fronts and whatnot. Its kinda cool, although they stretch it out too long. This is right off of downtown, not far from Pike Place.

If you're into aviation, there are two options - there's the Museum of Flight, which is kinda like the Smithsonian Air & Space museum, or you can go on a Boeing factory tour, kinda neat. More interesting than a Starbucks, anyway. Both of these will be harder to do if you only have a few hours, though.

In the same complex as the Space Needle is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame / Science Fiction Museum (same building), they're not bad.

Like most major metro regions, there's an aquarium, a zoo, sports stadiums, etc....

There's certainly more touristy stuff, but if you don't have a lot of time in the city, you won't be able to do much more than what you listed anyway...

All that said, Seattle sucks, I would recommend canceling the trip and avoiding this hippy infested swamp.

re: Seattle Underground

very cool, I had no idea. Luckily, between images.google.com/wiki, I'm covered

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Underground

The basements were left to deteriorate or were used as storage. Some became illegal flophouses for the homeless, gambling halls, speakeasies, and opium dens.

Any of this shit still going on?

M's play the Yankees on Saturday to try to extend their win streak to 8 straight. Safeco is a great field.

Sounders host LA Galaxy on Sunday. MLS soccer is a lot of fun to watch in Seattle because the games are sold out and the fans are really into it. As a cultural experience, this + Seafair it is a great weekend to be in town

Pioneer Square (where the stadiums are) is a beautiful area and a lot of fun to be in when sports events are going on

Heroin and sadness. Possibly rain.

This.

Seattle underground tour is BS from what I hear.

I'd suggest OP, that you stay away from the water. It's cold. The sound changes maybe 2F year around.

Maybe see the Blue Angels? I don't know if they're here all weekend. I heard them this morning.

Get a BJ in Volunteer Park?

Get shanked in Belltown?

Begged for money in U-District?

Not sure what you are looking for, OP.

Wait, what. I thought you were the guy who had a hard on for Seattle? (Interested in volunteer park?)

The Blue Angels will be performing between 12:45 to 2:00 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can take the route #11 bus from pike place to madison park, where there are two public beach areas, to watch the planes. Also madison park has a small strip of restaurants where you can eat lunch.

Y'know something, you suck.

Kidding, actually. Sorry to hear you don't like it here so much. I think still think it's pretty sweet.

You thought wrong. Not sure who you are thinking of, I have no interest in whatever you're rambling about, and I've been living in Seattle for five years and I've hated it pretty much since day one.

Was in Seattle this past June... honestly... nothing to do here that's really exciting. I remember I checked out some chocolate factory... the underground tour, pike's place, some park overlooking closeby the needle, uhm... shit I can't think of anything that was worth remembering. How about driving to Rainier/Mt St. Helen and hike that bitch?

Yet, you're still here? Why?

I hate Seattle too, but I'm stuck here for about 2 more years before I can leave. :/

Maybe it was Kyle or someone else. Idk, there's plenty of people on here who have hardons for Seattle because they think it's a decent place. It sucks. People are hellishly unfriendly. You only get friendly people when they want to take something from you or when they're not from Seattle.
