Yes, it's that time of year again... time for the greatest Yahoo Fantasy Basketball league(s) on these here message boards!!

As seen on ATOT (link may not work) last year, this is the most active, challenging, and fun league around. Defending champ jbahseng **is** back to defend his title.

We're mixing things up a bit this season, with opportunities in both the normal, free head to head league, and a new, exclusive, "Executive" head to head league where managers will fight it out for BB gift cards.

Executive League Draft
once we get 10 Kev can make his first pick. As always, draft order will go 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,... Plenty of managers have won picking towards the end of the first round.

Also, Recaps will be back (especially for the executive league. Free league may get short shrift.
Draft this year will be in this thread!! Once the order is established, managers will post what players they want. Once everyone picks, I'll manually enter selections into the league (new option this year on Yahoo). No more getting up early, firewall woes, hiding from supervisors while you pick or other excuses for missing the draft.

I posted this in the other thread but this is the league I actually give a turd about so I'm posting here:

I also wanted to post a few suggestion for this years rules.

- I think we should impose a limit on the # of games that each team can play each week. I just would like some way to avoid the cheesy method of people adding/dropping tons of players just to boost their teams' stats. If we limit to maybe 25 games played per week I think that might balance it? Is there a way to get yahoo to enforce this?

- We are having waivers right?

- No technical foul category please!!

Just think, weeks to finish the draft with plenty of opportunity for the other managers to mock and criticize each selection.

Stark you should put the league info in the 1st post. And here are a few of my suggestions:

Can we please get rid of ejections? It's just too much of a unique and off the wall stat to have the potential to decide games.

And for the executive league, if we have AST and TO as separate categories, wouldn't that make the A/T stat redundant? So if someone wins AST and TO, they automatically get A/T, it's like buy 2 get 1 free. That wouldn't be too fair

just to give a little flavor of the league, here's an below average recap from last thanksgiving:

Week 5 Recap ? Triptophan Insanity

Well we?re 5 weeks into the season and patterns are starting to emerge; maladroit wins lots of games and Civil Engineers and Kings lose lots of ?em.

The Glowing Monkies have opened an 8.5 game lead over ?the pack? of Storm (8.5 back), jbahseng (9 back), prodigy69 (9.5 back) DeafeningSilence (11.5 back), Stark (12 back) and swai (15.5 back).

Here?s a quick recap on how maladroit built this lead:
Week 1: GM 8, Lake my ASS (serialb) 4
Week 2: GM 10, Kings 2
Week 3: GM 9, McDyess? kneecap (prodigy69) 3
Week 4: GM 9, Dragons 2
Week 5: GM 10, Civil Engineers 2

With the exception of prodigy, maladroit has only played los equipos que aspiran el asno. His lead should be reeled back in as his schedule gets more challenging.

The big news last week was trades, FA pickups, and jbahseng?s post-Thanksgiving meltdown.

Trade activity:
Dragons acquired Voshon Lenard, Todd MacCulloch and Steve Smith. In exchange,
For Me To Poop On! (jbahseng) got Alvin Williams.

Analysis: Both Lenard and Williams have produced good numbers because Vincanity has been out and half the Raptor team is injured. With Carter?s return, Williams will see less of a drop in production than Lenard (now out with a hurt back), but jbahseng should not expect the league leading stat output AW was producing the last few weeks. Steve Smith has been hot the last few weeks and is a good pickup. MacCulloch is inconsistent, but not bad.

As a result of the 3 for 1 deal, Dragons dropped Lindsey Hunter (hurt) and John Stockton to FA. Stockton was immediately snatched up by maladroit. The pasty nut-hugger wearing Stockton may be old, but he?s still an assist machine. Many managers would have given up quality players (better than Lenard and MacCulloch) in exchange.

For Me To Poop On! also scored Gerald Wallace, who should see many minutes with Peja back in Europe getting his foot looked at.

The other trade to go down was between jbahseng (surprise) and maladroit. PJ Brown, a solid rebounder and high percentage shooter, goes to jbahseng?s Poops and maladroit gets red hot Jason Williams and average PG Troy Hudson. Nobody is sure why maladroit needs 4 PG. Look for him to deal some in the coming weeks. Lucious Harris was released to FA.
Analysis: Brown will help Poop on the boards with Olowokandi on the IL and Jason Williams will fade. If anyone is keeping track, that?s 7 white guys on Maladroit?s team. Managers holding Vlade, Brent Barry, any of the Russian guys, Dirk, Raef, Nash or John Koncak should think about trades. I?ll be offering Peja shortly.

Weekly recap:
Big winners were anyone playing Kings or Civil Engineers. Glowing Monkies and Shaq IS Back! both earned 10 points the easy way.

NJ Swamp Dragons got lucky and faced For Me To Poop On! The combination of a triptophan overdose, camping out for the black-Friday mega-sale at Best Buy, and obsessing about breaking up with his girlfriend (oh wait, that?s Deeko) drove jbahseng jbah-insane. He benched Tmac and the rest of his team and bent over while Storm punked him for 9 easy points.

Phi Slamma Jamma and the mysterious, trade making ?Dragons? each won 8 points.

McDyess? kneecap and the new improved ALL CAPS DOMO KUN! tied at 6 points apiece.

Hot players for the week:
1. Shawn Marion broke out for the Poopers
2. Jason Kidd helped the Dragons
3. Jason Williams used his OT game against the Lakers to boost his stats for Poop to trade him away.
4. Marbury can?t hit a three to save his life but does everything else well for Poop.
5. Antoine Walker was a point/forward stat making fool for IhopeImNotLast
6. Ron Artest overcame Isaiah?s ?everyone shoot? offense and Reggie?s return to give McDyess? kneecap good numbers.
7. Moris Peterson (who?) went nuts for Civil Engineers
8. Gary Payton continuted to produce for McDyess? Kneecap
9 & 10. Elton Brand and Brian Grant helped give Phi Slamma Jamma a solid frontcourt performance.

Or not players for the week (worst performers not on the IL):
1. Chauncey Billups ? added to McDeyess? knee
2. Peja Foothurtabich ? Shaq IS Back!
3. Charlie Ward ? Lake my ASS

PS According to bestbuy.com, the lowest denomination GC is $15. In part because of this, the $$ option of the "executive" league is purely optional. Once we get the draft done, we'll see who still wants in to the pool and who wants to play without the chance of winning any prizes.

If 15 bucks is the lowest best buy can sell, I say we should just do it for 15 then. I think everyone that plays in the offline league should put in 15 bucks to the pot. 15 bucks isnt a lot of money and it will be funner if their is a prize for the winner.
