Ok a little background info. I have a SCSI HD as my OS drive, a 60 GB WD IDE HD and a 250 GB WD IDE HD. The 250 GB one is the JB type, at 7200 rpm's. I'm running Windows XP SP1.
I was ripping a DVD to my hard disk and after it completed I went open the drive to view the file. It said that it could not access the drive. I restart my computer and the drive is no longer there. Going into the disk management I see the drive but it now shows it unformatted. I am assuming the MBR somehow got deleted. I had some files that I would like to get back, but arent necessarily critical to have. Is there something that I can do it recover this MBR. This hard drive has been flaky before.
Ive had folders on it just disappear without explanation before. Ive done scans with the Western Digital Data Lifeguard program and it says the drive is good, but I am still unconvinced.
EDIT: Today the drive now shows that its offline in the disk management. Its still seen but I cant bring the drive back online to even format it if I wanted to.
