Immigration should be easier, but why shouldn't we also be able to pick and choose who gets to come here?

Edit: Keep in mind that legal immigrants can't keep picking crops for slave wages. And farmers are not going to start paying $15/hr for their vegetable pickers. More illegals will come in to do it, displacing those that are already here and pushing them into, I don't know, manufacturing and fast food? LOL!

Are you under the impression everybody would come if we streamlined the process? I dont think everybody will come. Those who want to come will like they do now. But instead of sending them to the shadows of our society we would get them included.

You understand that illegals depress wages right? Once an illegal becomes legal well then they are also protected by local and federal wage laws. The wages would rise helping everybody.

Well, I meant doing something like a janitor job or the picking fruit thing to start

Lot's of posters here have a lot of spare time at their jobs too, it could be spent training someone
I spent my whole life training dozens of people to take my jerb (apprentices) and actually just did that exclusively for a couple of years at a sweet gov job
I got my training from a journeyman before me

You're confused; defend your claim "they are of working age". They're not, this is just straight math. Of the roughly 92M "not in the workforce", ~8.5M are unemployed (i.e. looking for work, but not finding it), with the rest composed of many different groups such as retirees, students, disabled, etc. Those groups will never work, nor should they, they're not looking for work for all sorts of perfectly legitimate reasons. There are not "tens of millions out of work", that's just nonsensical wordplay. Btw, based on the above stats, we've an employment rate of 5.4%. Historically, the U.S. unemployment rate averages just over 6%.
