And people think I'm crazy when I talk about the oppression going on in the states. Right now all these things are baby steps towards something much worse. Police militarization, civilian spy drones, full blown tracking, face recognition, the whole NSA thing as a whole... Yeah there's a hidden agenda behind all that. They're not spending that money for nothing.
What's screwy is that a lot of it looks like it's for advertising purposes.
Your smart TV is watching what you're watching, and sending back lists of files to its manufacturers. Why? Advertisers want that juicy user data.
Banks want to learn your buying habits. Same reason: Selling prime viewing space to advertisers, and for use by their own marketing departments.
Retailers use video systems to generate heat maps to see where shoppers are walking, and to see how long they look at certain displays.
You have money which you are not giving to these companies. They are doing everything they can to correct this egregious offense. The more they know about you, the more effectively they can manipulate you into buying crap you don't want.
Beyond that, you'd better believe that politicians and PACs want some of that data too. If they know how to push your buttons, you'll dance however they
want you to dance. (I know that
you, reader of this post, are not susceptible to that manipulation. Just guess how many people say that same thing, and yet advertising is a multi-billion-dollar industry.)
