Seeking monitor suggestion...

I currently have a rather bad MAG Innovision DJ800. It's from 1997 and no longer under warranty. Today I woke up and turned it on and it "popped" and now everything is blurry at every resolution.

I think I'd like to get a nice 17" CRT with solid performance at high resolutions. Any suggestions?

If you're budget-conscious, try the Samsung 753DF or the 700NF or 700IFT if you have more to spend.

Also try searching the forums. More of them are 19" threads but a 700nf is just a 17" version of the 900nf, 753df is a 17" of the 955df, 700ift is 17" of the 900ift, etc...

There are so many good monitors at decent prices these days that you're probably going to get 25 different recommendations.

As far as decent "consumer grade" monitors go, 19-inchers are fairly close in price to 17-inchers...you might as well spend the extra $50-$75 and get the 19.

I have a Micron 900MX. It has a Sony FD tube. Yes, it has the two little wires...but unless you are staring at a pure white screen and looking for them, you won't see them. I paid $350 or $360 (can't remember) at BestBuy. It's an awesome monitor and I'm very happy with it. The Samsungs that've been recommended already are excellent. My girlfriend has the 753DF (my recommendation, of course...she wanted an IMAC because it comes in purple ) and it's an excellent monitor. I'd have bought it myself if I wasn't looking for a 19".

I have a brand new KDS Avitron 17&quot; Monitor Model #:AV-7TF , Flat Screen, Trinitron tube, only been used for 3 hours to see if it works and to play a game of Q3. It is absolute PERFECT condition. Asking $200 + shipping or pick-up/delivery to Chicagoland area. It is a very nice looking monitor, I just have no use for it, I have a Sony E400 19&quot;, Sony G400 19&quot;, &amp; Sony G500 21&quot;. I work at a computer store and got it free from work.

I have the LG Flatron 795FT Plus. I suppose out of the Flat Screens it is probably the best that I have used....I really like it because it will to 1280x1024 at 100Hz.

If you don't have the cash you could get it repaired quite cheaply. Sounds like a cap has gone and shouldn't cost too much for someone to repair for you.
