I found the dreamcast at amazon.com and had planned to use the $50 off $200 coupon, but they informed me that the dreamcast was in the "video games" section, not the "electronics" section. grr. it should be

anyway, i am looking to buy a dreamcast for my brother, used or new, new preferred... any deals around?

trueimage, do you have a funcoland in your area. they are selling used decks for $99.00 here, reconditioned for $129, and brand new for $149 which comes with 3 sports titles (can't remember the titles, think it's NBA 2000, NHL 2000 and some football). I bought my PSX deck cheap and used from them and paid the $9.00 for the 1 year replacement garauntee. While ringing me up the guy told me my deck was the last one, he was out of stock. He then explained the 1 year garauntee and I went home. The deck didn't work with my plugmod took it back said it won't work with most games I bought...they didn't have any used decks left to fulfill their garauntee so I got a refurbished for the same price (nice deck like new!)

if you buy the bare system from amazon.com you get a $50 voucher for Dreamcast games/controllers/VMUs, etc. i'm not sure where the link w/ the details are but look for it, i've definitely seen it around. so it's almost as good as the 50/200 amazon.com electronics coupon.

There was a thread here about the Dreamcast which I thought was pretty decent and jumped on it.

Dont have it at the top of my head but it's a Sega-direct deal where you call in to order, etc...

I believe the thread was titled "New Dreamcast pricings..." or something like that. Give that a try.

This used to be a great place with lots of helpful people, and some still remain, though many have left. The ratio of folks who want to prove how smart they are by telling others the thread should be locked (didn't the mods ban the getting in before a mod locks it crap ways back?) compared to those who are truly friendly has become quite poor.

It is sad that some of you have nothing better to do with your time than try to berate people for making an inappropriate post, which, of course, is just bumped back up to the top when you do so. In the world of digital darwinism, if left alone, this post would have either dropped out of your way or received an appropriate reply.

I'm with those who think the Amazon $50 GC back is your best bet.
