Sell a new, unopened 3870 X2 for a 9800GTX?

I have a spanking new, unopened, 3870 X2 card and a friend wants to buy it. Would it make sense to sell it to him and get a 9800GTX? The 9800GTX appears to beat this card in just about every test, and at times beat it badly. And, for $50 less than I paid. Should I sell it and go with the 9800GTX??????

In any case 3870X2 > 9800GTX.
Your thinking of 9800GX2 > 3870X2.

The 3870 X2 is a faster card than the 9800GTX, like Quiksilver said, you are thinking of the 9800GX2.

If I were you I'd consider selling the 3870 X2 and just waiting for RV770. If you're building a new system and can afford to wait a month or so, that is definitely the route to go.

Ah, good point. I have a nice 24" monitor at 1920 x 1200, and I play mainly RTS games.
I swear the reviews I've been reading show X2 slower than 9800GTX.

9800GTX Gameplay Advantages 1920X1200:
4x MSAA Looks better than 2xMSAA

...I mean come on, this is just stupid. It's like their grabbing at anything to make nVidia have some advantage over ATI. I wouldn't trust their benchmarks at all.

I put the frame rates in the post above to make it more clear in case others were wondering. In other reviews the card loses in World In Conflict, which I do play, and I also play COH, and I've been considering COD4. COD4 looks like it could be fun. Still, I am now leaning towards opening this thing up since it's already here.

Well if it's just sitting their collecting dust, sell it now. Then just wait until may/july and purchase a 4800 series card or gt200. Just don't sell it and then purchase a 9800GTX. Not a worthy investment.

It depends. The real question is

"You like to use a multi GPU setup and deal with its drawbacks? or deal with lesser performance and no headaches?"

Both cards are great place holders til the real big thing hits the stores later this year.
