Ok here's the problem, I have just purchased a 17" CRT monitor on Ebay for AU$41 +postage, the postage came to AU$25 to send it from melbourne to sydney by australia post, which was fine by me, so I paid the amount via bank deposit, I recieve an email today from the seller stating that she has posted the item however she would like for me to deposit an extra AU$20 to cover her travel costs and her time.
What should I do?

This sounds like the best course of action.

But no, the extra fee is rediculous. She obviously knew she had to have the monitor delivered, and if she included any charge for that, it should have been under the handling fee. Contact eBay - you paid what you were supposed to.

the funny thing is she already posted it to me, and now demands the extra money, i would had no problem paying the extra charge..if it had of been apart of the original transaction, i did tell her that if she had any problems with costs to contact me first before it was sent, but she went and got the quote, sent it to me and i paid what she asked and now she demands extra..I haven't even left feedback for her but she left positive feedback for me as soon as she sent it.

there is not much to do. Wait for the post and enjoy the monitor!

about the extra money... well there is no way that she can make you pay it. you may want to report that to eBay admins...

What should I do?

NO. Bad eBayer. Always pay with a method you can reverse later.

thats not the problem, the problem is she is demanding more money afterthe transaction has been completed and the item is sent..sorta like buying something from a shop. paying for it and as you are about to walk out of the store the sales person then demands addition funds.
But I have reported the incident to Ebay and they are following it up.

Oh, I see what the problem is - she's a crazy old bat. And she should get the same response as if you were walking out of a store, receipt in hand, with your newly purchased goods.

A middle finger without turning around, and no sign of stopping.

This is her 100% her fault for not getting an accurate quote on shipping charges. She has no basis to demand more money. How much are we talking? It sounds like she is being pretty rude about asking for the extra money so I would blow her off. If she asked nicely about it I would have consider covering the extra cost.

EDIT - I just reread your post and the I noticed the extra money was for travel costs and her time? WTF. Hell no. Do not pay that. Covering extra SHIPPING costs is one thing. But not travel time to the PO.

i've never encountered anything like that before on ebay. sometimes if i get a real bargain the seller may skimp on the packing.

heh she should have thought of asking beforehand - but afterward what a dumbass.

you could threaten to give her a negative after you receive the monitor.

Contact ebay admin immediately, and let them know. That way, if she tries to come back on you and stir things up to get you into trouble, they'll already know what a wingnut she is.
If she stirs up trouble before you can get ahold of the ebay admin folks, check out safe harbour. They'll investigate from both sides, realize what a kook she is, and tell her to f-off for you!

It's amazing......just about the time I figure I've heard of every stupid thing people do on ebay, someone else like this seller comes along and proves me wrong!

Whast he said. It's illegal per eBay's policies to do that and she's violating a whole bunch of them. Don't give her extra money. Or tell her you will once you get the item but then obviously don't. SHe won't be able to do anything about it since you fulfilled your agreement.

This is downright laughable. First, she asks for money for a ridiculous reason (her time and travel costs? give me a break!). Then she asks for it AFTER her last bargaining chip has been lost! I suspect this woman is mildly retarded.

LOL! As if you're talking to a dog. "No. Bad dog. >.< BAD DOG!"

Anyway, just wait for the monitor, and when you have it, call her up and call her a bstch or something.
