Selling a car on Ebay?

My dad wants ot sell his 1966 Chevy Biscayne and was asking about selling it on Ebay. I'd be using my account to sell it since he doesn't have one and is very technology challenged.

Does anyone have any experiences selling with Ebay Motors? I've sold stuff on Ebay myself before, mostly little things. The most expensive was a video card for about $200. I've never sold a car before. Anything we need to watch out for or any suggestions on things to add to the listing to make sure everything is good? Do you have any other suggestions or advice?

Also, where would be the best place to get info on how much the car is worth? I searched for 1966 Chevy Biscaynes for sale using google and a several other sites but didn't find many that matched what my dad has.

He's put about $5k into it, had the body repaired and repainted and some other things.

I listed my old 1988 Chrysler Conquest TSi (not running) on Ebay with an $800 reserve. Reserve didn't get met, so I relisted with NO reserve, using the same pics and description. This time, it sold for $865. The buyers came with cash and a flatbed to haul it away.

Main selling point - the car was being sold in NY, but remarkably had zero rust on it, even on the undercarriage. So, I took pics of the undercarriage showing lack of rust and featured them in the ad.

Not helping my sale was the worn-out burgundy leather interior and faded white paint (with the exception of one shiny purple fender), two very flat tires, and the fact that it wouldn't start. I thought $865 was pretty good considering I bought it for $700 in running condition on Ebay one year earlier.

its really no different than any other type of sale. i did the exact thing you are doing with my dad's 71 GTO. i handled the technical stuff with ebay and pictures but he did all the communication with the buyer via email and phone. basically, dont hand the keys/title over until you have the money in hand. in our case, i think it was a cashier's check or some kind of bank check because it was a large amount. buyer wasnt local either so transport company with an enclosed trailer picked up the car. i do suggest putting up lots of pictures so you dont get constantly asked to take additional pics. i made sure to cover all the interior and exterior, undercarriage, options sticker, cowl tag, engine, trunk, gauges (with odometer reading), etc.
