Selling an Item on Craigslist, closing the deal

So, I got what appears to be a legitimate offer for some used tires that I have.

I accepted an offer of a bit over 300.

I will be meeting him in a busy shopping center.

He will be paying by cash, only thing I am worried about is fake bills. I can get one of those pens. And see if I can see the security strip is still in the bill though I know people take them out for fun.

What else can I do?

You can feel for the raised textures in the letters on the bill. The 100 should have a holographic effect too (changes color when you move the bill around)

you'd be surprised. last time i tried to verify a cashier's check (BoA) they wouldn't.

Cash only, and take a friend along. I just sold a camera through CL and there was no problem, but better safe than sorry.

i know you're joking, but as a buyer sometimes, if i met someone doing any of this shit, i'd be out of there. no deal with that kind of malarkey, i'd figure they were up to something.

if you do get fake bills, hell just pass them on to the next guy.

lmfao... seriously dude there's nothing to worry about he's probably just as concerned of you selling him some crappy tires that are punctured.

I purchased and sold tires on CL along with 100's of other stuff on CL all usually go through without any issues usually getting stood up is the problem. Just make sure its in a busy area find a place that has a camera and deal right under it, inspect the funds and its pretty easy to detect counterfeits bills at least it is for me. the feel and the look i handle cash all day.

It never occured to me before, but now I know what to do with all my counterfeit bills. I'll fill my house with a bunch of used merchandise.
