Semi-Complicated MacBook Pro Memory Upgrade

I just purchased a 2012 Macbook Pro that comes with 4GB of 1600MHz memory. It's the lower end 13.3" Non-Retina model with a 2.5GHz Ivy Bridge i5, and intel HD 4000 graphics, which I mention in case the mobos are different between certain models. I have a spare 2x8GB kit around that runs at 1333MHz with a power draw of 1.5V. I'm wondering a few things...

1. First of all, is 1.5V compatible with this MacBook Pro? It was with an old cruddy HP laptop so I would imagine so, but just to be sure.

2. Strictly in terms of performance and stability, if all compatibility is good to go, what would you suggest I do; should I keep the 4GB(2x2GB) of faster memory or should I swap it for 1x8GB of slower memory or 2x8GB of slower memory. The next question will be about battery life, but for this one I'm concerned strictly about performance and stability. The tradeoff is obviously amount over speed, and I'm concerned basically about which setup will simply "make it run better" overall. I won't be doing much video or photo editing, but I generally browse the web with about 10 tabs open, like to keep my email open, as well as chat, and so on. I will have a lot of stuff open as a general rule. To complicate this question even further, note that I will be required to boot to Windows via bootcamp on this machine extremely often, so if windows generally uses more RAM, that could maybe sway your answer as to what setup you think would be best.

3. Would any of the 3 aforementioned RAM configurations have any significant effect on battery life compared to the others? I will be using it for school and can't always depend on a plug being nearby so battery life will be important.

Thanks in advance for your feedback

Might not like the slower ram. Try it, if if doesn't work swap it back. It's not that hard.

From an end user perspective, the different between 1333 and 1600 isn't noticeable. I'd rather have 16GB than 4GB.
