I had a similar problem with my monitor which has a usb connection for flash drives onboard. I had it connected to the 3/4 usb bank on the rear of the motherboard.

After powering down the computer I would turn off my monitor which would restart the computer.

I moved the monitor usb connection to the 1/2 bank and it cured the problem.

I believe the 3/4 bank is specially set up to be used with the remote and screenduo to allow the computer to be booted by those devices.

This was confirmed when I was able to get the remote to boot up the computer when I moved it to the 3/4 bank. It would not do so in the 1/2 bank. This is all the more made difficult by the fact that the sticker on the 1/2 bank indicates that the remote and screenduo should be used in the 1/2 bank. The manual says 3/4. I think the manual is correct.

Now for my problem.

I can't get the screenduo utilities to load on my Vista 32 install. It keeps telling me that the driver must be loaded first when it is already loaded.

Any solution for this?

lysinger, to tell you the truth I don't know exactly what made the installation work. The whole process was very fudgy as I had the same "install drivers first" popup. For right now, all I can remember was me trying to install some drivers form the cd that were not signed and that Vista didn't want the existing ones to be replaced. I'll spend the next few days trying to remember my steps.

The one other thing that stands out in my mind was when I uninstalled all the other Asus utilities including duo, and after that, when I installed duo again there were no hicups.

Yeah, thats what finally happened. I reinstalled after some time and it worked. Go figure. I must have done something that allowed it to work.

About overclocking, I found this page at xtremesystems that helped me with my settings.

It turned out that I got my system running at 3200 with less than the default voltage (1.3v) and at 50 degrees idle. Room temp was 75. I'm still impressed.

The main problem I have now is stopping the damned system form starting up thru the keyboard. I've changed the Boot settings in the BIOS as well as the keyboard setting in device manager. But every time I move the keyboard the system comes up. Mind you this is not when I put the system to sleep, but after I shut down the whole thing. Anybody heard of something similar?

The other problem is that I can't get the computer to wake up right. The computer wakes up but doesn't open its eyes....

I was having that problem too, I posted about it on the previous page, When I unplugged the AI Remote and uninstalled the software my PC stopped autobooting itself so I'm guessing that was the problem.

Btw what settings did you use to reach 3.2GHz?

And after yet another Vista install, here I am again. But this time trouble free

I got two new SATA HD but I wasn't able to successfully ghost the old one. So I went thru the process again.
This time around I didn't install the IR and now I go to sleep fine and wake up only via the case button. I think I plugged my IR in the wrong hole like others have said. Now I understand the meaning of putting it in the wrong .... never mind.

My settings for 3.2GHz are absolutely nothing special. Memory running at 800, everything else at the default (not auto) and the processor (6400) running at 400. I lowered the cpu voltage only because the computer is in a hot room and in a hot city. As far as I know you could leave everything at default if your system is cooler than mine. Heck it's 9 PM and the room is 78 degrees with no heating system and it is officially still winter time. In the summer it gets close to 90. That's when the AC starts sucking my money.

Almost forgot, got my XMS2-C5 running at 4-4-4-12 as well. With all that OC I feel like I robbing someone, but I know is more like someone is being robbed, but not by me.

So far, I'm very happy with this board. Feel like it's a keeper.

P.S.
As part of my reinstall I got that "load drivers first. So What I did was:
-press ok on that warning
-then vista comes in with their own hardware wizard. If it doesn't then I think you can start it yourself on device manager by "adding legacy hardware".
-then choose that you will select what device to install (advanced)
-scroll all the way to the bottom to Windows Side Show
-then pick Asus screen duo and finish it up

now if asus aint there, you may be able to use the "have disc" option somewhere.

hope it helps

OK guys I need some help. My board went crazy on me and I need to RMA it. But I don't remember how many sata cables came with the board. The manual says six, but I know it's not true. The Newegg webpage shows only two but I think it is too few, altough possible. Do any of you guys remember how many sata cables came with this board?

About my problem. After working fine for a couple weeks the board doesn't allow me to enter the BIOS or boot into the OS. I've cleared and flashed the BIOS with the CD copy and it didn't help. Don't really know what the problem is but I think it is hardware based not BIOS based. It all started after I plugged in the IR cable and installed two USB cards. I also have a very drainy logitech keyboard (G15). As someone mentioned in another board, this board has some issues with USB.

A heads up for everybody, if still under the refund period return it at first sign of trouble.

Thank you all for the overwhelming response, cough! In case someone else sees themselves in the same position as I was, the correct number is 3!
