I only caught the last minute, was this the best speech ever? Did it unite the country? Did the crowds ever get bigger?

At only 16 minutes I'd say it was his best speech on that alone.

But I am pissed!

The only substantive position stated in the speech was his enthusiasm for protectionism. My wife works for Best Buy and my brother-in-law for Target, and the idea of tariffs on Chinese goods makes me seriously nervous.

I really enjoyed serving in the Air Force, but one benefit of no longer being in the service is that I am free to say that Donald Trump is a turd of a human being, and will almost certainly be the least competent, most toxic President in the history of our republic. May God help us all.

I don't see that as a lack of competence, I see it as a confluence of factors (some fair, some unfair) that made Hillary a distinctively poor candidate for this particular election cycle. She still won the popular vote decidedly, and in fact got the second-most votes of any American presidential candidate in history, but yes, she lost.

Trump has, essentially none of the credentials (be they intellectual, experiential or temperamental) to be effective as a President, and he has appointed a cabinet of people who suffer from many of the same deficiencies as him. I find it very difficult to understand how anyone could articulate a compelling case for Donald Trump as President of the United States, but if you believe you can, please feel free to do so. Otherwise, don't waste my time and yours bringing up a person (Mrs. Clinton) who has no bearing on this discussion. You just sound like a churl and a troll.

Oh, I entirely agree. I would like it (though I find it very difficult to envision) if Trump were successful. I just don't want to lose much of my family's livelihood in the process. Donald Trump would literally not be on my list of the top 10,000 people (assuming I could even remember the names of 10,000 people) I would choose to run the United States.
