Crowd size estimated at 700,000-900,000...which is not bad historically speaking.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2017/jan/20/inaugural-crowd-sizes-ranked/

Barack Obama, 2013: 1 million

Barack Obama, 2009: 1.8 million (generally considered a record for people on the National Mall)

George W. Bush, 2005: 400,000

George W. Bush, 2001: 300,000

Bill Clinton, 1997: 250,000

Bill Clinton, 1993: 800,000

George H.W. Bush, 1989: 300,000

Ronald Reagan, 1985: 140,000 tickets sold, but record cold moved the swearing-in ceremony indoors

Ronald Reagan, 1981: 10,000, according to the New York Times. This was the first year the ceremony was performed on the west side of the Capitol.

Thanks for the stats Doc. The 700-900k estimate is that official? I read the Trump campaign wanted 900k or more. I'm wondering if that's Trumps staffs estimate.
Personally crowd size is just an interesting talking point. I don't think it means anything else.

I don't think they do "official" estimates anymore. Estimates were from organizers and Homeland Security I believe.

Reading comprehension fail. They expected between 700-900. That wasn't their estimate for how many they thought actually showed up.

Yeah, the Park Service gave up on crowd estimates as organizers always bitched that the NPS estimates were too low and opposing groups always bitched that the estimates were too high so the NPS said, "Screw it."

The link above states "Organizers did initially say they expected between 700,000 and 900,000 people." Where are you getting the actual crowd size estimate from?
What do you want the actual crowd size to be? And why do you even take the trouble to go through the motions of caring? Why not just chose a number that makes you feel good or happens to help you rationalize your bias? The only person your fooling is yourself.

Honestly I don't care how large or small it was, but you keep preaching about how CNN is all fake news and then you go and post something that is pretty much a made up # and claim it to be factual. I did actually google to see and nobody as far as I can tell has released an estimate of the actual crowd. And I made no false statements nor did I even offer up an opinion yet somehow you think I am fooling myself? Haha good one.

Seeing some of these videos is pretty sad. People acting like this, are extremely hypocritical. The left likes to think it's "tolerate"? While most were not violent, some were. Destroying property, injuring people? Domestic terrorists that are pathetic.

In my neighborhood, humans that cry and break things when they don't get their way are called toddlers.

I explicitly used the word "estimated" and NEVER stated it was fact or an actual number. And I didn't make it up...Politifact cites this estimate and here's a link citing several other similar crowd size estimates made prior to the event.

So yes...you have indeed made false statements. Apparently this is difficult for you to understand.

And you never answered my question. If you don't think 700,000-900,000 is a reasonable estimate, what do think the crowd size estimate should be? And given your estimate (whatever it may be), exactly what importance does that number signify to you in the scheme of things?

I've been acquiring fountain pens recently. Have a Platinum #3776 soft fine nib and a medium Pilot Custom 823 medium on order.

More fun that dwelling on Trump and this stuff.

Around here, we call them Republicans. Don't get to teach your religion in the public schools? Destroy public education. Starve the beast. Occupy wildlife refuges. Murder doctors.

I never got the hang of using one. With my handwriting, I guess I never mastered the ballpoint either. I like the look of fountain pens though.

I always write better with one. It isn't magic but the particular hand position and very light pressure needed suits the human hand better.

Might try a Pilot Metropolitan for about $15 bucks from Amazon or other on-line places. You might be surprised and that kind of cash shouldn't break the bank.

PS I'm evil. People usually love them who give these pens a real try and figure out how they work. Not complicated. Could become a habit for you

You are painting with a much broader brush than I would ever use. I don't know if this says something about your ideology, but it is suggestive.

Yeah this ain't about congressional republicans, sorry. It's funny that you think it matters though. Roughly 1/6th of America hears about fraud, bigotry and grabbing pussy sans consent and calls it presidential.

Trump and his followers forfeited any moral or ethical highground a long time ago. One of those consequence things. If your position rests on the opposition having a shitty memory, it's time to find a new argument.
