Semi Pro Sound Cards

Hi

Does anybody know of site for semi pro soundcards? I have been asked by a friend to see if I can quote him for a machine for midi and digital audio work and his requirements are greater than a SB live platinum can do, but I have no experience of cards better than this.

I have heard of Turtle Beach and Yamaha 1000XG cards but this is not my area and need advice.

He has been using an Atari for midi work but its finally died and wants a 'real' computer. He also wants steinbase? and other software of which I know nothing and which is very expensive to find out that it does not do what he wants, once he finds out what that is!

Acoustic Edge, Game Theatre, SB Live, Santa Cruz + anything with the word "Blaster" in it are NOT semi-pro audio. Check out the Audiophile 2495, M-Audio Omni Studio, Echo Mia, RME Digi 8/96, Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96, EGO-SYS Waveterminal 2496, Audiotrak Inca 88 + many others (they can be quite expensive).
