I am currently running an older system (MSI K8N with an Athlon 64 FX55) and hope to use this as a media/TV computer once I finish with my new build. It's about 4 years old and 2 months ago it started randomly shutting off only when surfing the web (occasionally) or running a full system scan with kaspersky and onecare's online scanner (always shuts down) - quick scans or other programs work fine. It works perfectly fine when playing games, watching videos or really any other task.
The computer will shut off and the power light will blink - I cannot boot up until I unplug the power cord then wait about 30-60 seconds (until the light stops blinking).
The system was previously overclocked but is now at stock settings, and I've tried running the computer with only 1 of each stick of RAM to test them but it still shuts down. I've tested a new power supply, but the problem continues. I think it might be a motherboard or CPU issue - not really sure which and don't have other components to test each.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on troubleshooting or potential problems. Thanks in advance.
