What are you a fanboy? I can cherry pick benchmarks too (from that very same suite):

Civilization 5: GTX 590
Starcraft 2: GTX 590

HD6990: 0

Ouch?

I believe that was a response to X98. Neither GTX590 nor the HD6990 is objectively better, unless you play only specific titles or absolutely need CUDA for work.

And your response is a much better one than either of the other posts...

How's this for objective then...
The value of the GeForce GTX 590 is questionable. It costs within $10 of the Radeon HD 6990 at $710 (depending on street prices), but we have seen more than not the Radeon HD 6990 offers better performance at that price.
When comparing value, the Radeon HD 6990 is a "better" card than the GeForce GTX 590.
We truly thought the GTX 590 was going to make the Radeon 6990 look bad, but the fact of the matter is that NVIDIA made the 6990 look that much better. The GTX 590 is not the "World's Fastest Single Card Solution" as stated on our page 1 slides; the Radeon HD 6990 is very much retaining that title. Hail to the King, baby!

I don't agree with that conclusion -- offering no competition would make the 6990 shine much more. The GTX 590 was indeed competition and more of a wash than a one-sided win either way.

Well, on launch it looked quite a bit worse for the GTX 590, but driver updates helped a lot. Also it seems like the later ones take better to overclocking.

Try doing a general comparison and you'll see the 6990 is way ahead in terms of numbers. Same anand benchmark suite-or is that too difficult for you? Are you an Nvidia Fanboy?

Why are we discussing 590 vs 6990 in this thread again? I must have missed something

I'm surprised that the AMD vs Nvidia war is still going on forums. I've gone back and forth between the two companies for the last 10 years and get whichever is the best performers near the top. Recently went from an AMD 5890 to a Nvidia GTX 580 and was happy with each one and hopefully they both continue leap frogging each other for years to come. y

Way ahead?

Do they teach you how to count in the UK? Those graphs above clearly show the 590 and 6990 on the same performance level for the vast majority of games. In cases were the 6990 wins, the difference is minor (less than frame per second in a few cases). However, when the GTX 590 wins, it wins hands down, especially in Civilization 5, Arkham City, Dirt 3, and Starcraft 2.
