Sempron 2400 running at 1000

:QThis ia a new build using ecs KT600-A motherboard.What do I need to change to make the processor run at 2400?

AMD Sempron 2400 runs at 1000Mhz. To make it run at 2400Mhz is a serious overclock.

You have your FSB set to 100(200) or 100x10=1000. The Sempron 2400+ is a 166FSB CPU and it's multiplier is 10x or 166x10=1666mhz. Set the jumpers to 166(333) via the mobo booklet. If it's anything like my two Chiantech KT-600s, it'll be on the front side of the board next to the IDE connectors. Some KT-600s have this option in the bios, either way, read your booklet and set it right. You chould even overclock it by setting it to 200(400) or 200x10=2000mhz. But you may need to boost the vcore about 5%-10%. This is what one of my 2400+s is OCed at without any vcore boost. What brand KT-600 do you own?

Exactly that. On socket-A, setting the right bus frequency is up to the user, and you need to set it to 166 for the Sempron. Boards usually ship set to 100 so they fire up with every CPU you could possibly plug in there, even a Duron-600

On my board, my Sempron 2800+ (2.0GHz) would sometimes fall back to "Athlon MP 1200" so I set the FSB frequency to 167MHz and it has stayed at 2800+ ever since.

The Sempron 2400 actually clocks around 1600Mhz. If you think you have the clock jumpers/settings right but your system is displaying 1000Mhz on boot-up, you probably just need to update your motherboard BIOS. Otherwise stock settings for your CPU should be about 167Mhz x 9.5.

No, thats not right. I have TWO 2400+ Semprons. The multiplier is 10x or 166x10=1666mhz. He made need to update the bios to post as a Sempron, but if he doesn't, It'll still work. 166x10 is still well within the stock Athlon XP specs, and this was what the KT-600 chipset was made to support. This happens when the cmos battery gets knocked loose, or when it starts to go bad (the bios loads "safe settings"). If you have physical jumpers on the motherboard for the FSB, you don't have to worry about this.

Yeah, I think this board came with a dying battery, as the clock does lose a few seconds over a period of days.
