Ones the Sunnyvale Fry's are selling are the BA product codes ones. Supposedly relabled 90nm SOI 256K L2 mobile Athlon 64 parts w/x86-64 disabled though been earing reports that some have x86-64 enabled as well as SSE3/HT. These guys should overclock alright.

$19.90 + CA TAX = ~21.65.

You think that someone will drive down to Frys, Wait in the line, pack up the CPU, then drive to Post office (or wait for Carrier pickup) for ~$8.36 ?? (After paypal fees, it will be even lower).

What I was thinking was, if someone was going to Fry's anyway they could pick one up for me and make a little money on the side. Sorry if it looked like I was asking someone to make a trip just to buy me a cpu. Besides, I just offered an amount and no one made a suggestion of a different price.

I hate Fry's.

They refuse to help you with these CPU's. Their bait & switch tactics should be reported to the BBB.

On the CPU wall, they've got a TON of clearanced CPU's (basically, anything in $xx.90)

So when I go asking them for the Sempron 2800 for $29.90, they kept trying to sell me a different Sempron 2800 that's $69.99 (they've got maybe, 6 different SKU's (SKU's are product #'s) for the Sempron 2800 alone)

So when I kept pushing for the $29.90 one, they finally said, "Those are discontinued and we don't have any more."

WTF?!? Why the HECK would they put up a sign+sticker advertising it then!??!

Some other stuff I found (listen, if you score in on any of these, post!, but I truly doubt it, because they won't bother checking stock status on any of the $xx.90 items, they'll just say it's OOS - out of stock)

Sempron 2500+ (socket A) - $4.90
K6-II 300mhz - $1.90
Opteron 242 - $39.90
Sempron 3100+ - $39.90
Sempron 3100+ - $29.90
Sempron 3100+ - $19.90 (yes, I saw all of these in their computer, all different SKU's)
Sempron 2800+ - $29.90
Sempron 2800+ - $19.90

Sempron XXXX - $9.90 - $49.90


I could go on and on forever...

But they'll never sell you these CPUs. Bait and switch!!!!!

see...thats right...i didnt know what you were thinking and my estimate about your thinking was wrong (wish I had those powers ----- What Women Want movie comes to mind)

But again, my calculation is as follows:
Cost of CPU: $19.90 + 8.75% CA tax in Bay Area (might be little higher/lower depending on County) = ~21.65

You are willing to Pay: $30.00
PayPal Fees: ~$1.00
NET in Hand: ~$29.00

~$29.00 - ~$21.65 = ~$7.35
For the retail Package, I would guess the weight to be 2Lb atleast.
Priority mail for 2Lb from West Coast to East Coast: $6.05

NET LEFT: ~$7.35 - $6.05 = ~$1.30 left in my pocket.

GAS in the bay Area is ~$3.00/Gallon. Lets take mileage as 30mpg for the car. Lets say that the Post Office is ~3 miles (3x2 = 6 miles round trip - for some, it will be less or it might be more)
Gas Cost for 6 mile round trip: ~$0.60

so: ~$1.30 - $0.60 = ~$0.70 left in my pocket....BUT oh wait...I forgot wear and tear on my car for that 6 miles , time to find parking, wait in line at the post office etc etc.....and I forgot again....I need to pack the CPU, so packing tape and shipping label (ink and Paper cost).

Do you think it is really worth for someone to do all this for ~$0.70 ???????

Now, you will say that you only want someone to do this who was going to FRYS and going to Post Office also.....but again only ~$0.70 (or ~$1.30 without GAS costs if you do Carrier Pickup and WAIT for the postman to come pick it up) after everything ???

and then there is a risk of the package getting lost in the mail/you not getting it in time etc etc.

Again, I am not trying to be rude but just giving the real picture. Oh and I do mean "with all due respect" this time.

Just back from the Brokaw Fry's, they were sold out of the $29.90 3100+. I did pick up a 2600+ for $19.90 plus tax, total of $21.54. It's socket754, 128k Cache, 64 bit (according to the Fry's price sticker), 3yr warranty, retail box so it comes w/ the HSF.

GONE - I don't really don't need it... any takers? PM if you want it... cost will be $21.54 + Paypal fees (2.9% + $0.30) = $22.47... rounded up to $22.50, and I'll ship for free via USPS.

I have a feeling we'll see a nice combo deal on Friday... will keep you guys updated.
