sempron 2800 results

I recently received a sempron 2800 from a supplier to check out and here are my results:-

sempron 2800, xp3200 & xp2500

3d2003 = 4639,4884,4645
doom3 = 52,61,56
ut04 = 82,98,85
comache4 = 42,52,44
x2 = 73,84,74

With games the sempron 2800 performs just abit slower than the old xp 2500 barton which is $47 cheaper!

cpubench = 5732,6366,5372
mbench = 3062,3326,2768
sandra cpu alu = 7631,8435,7015
sandra cpu fpu = 3152,3469,2888

It's a shame that these good sempron cpu benchmark results are not repeated in the games benchmarks.

The main problem with the sempron 2800 is it's price, if it was priced below the xp2500 then it would be a good cpu.

sempron 2800 = $110
xp3200 = $129
xp2500 = $63

If you are thinking of getting a sempron 2800 then get a xp3200 instead because it is only $19 more expensive!

i'm sure a barton will be able to overclock further then the sempron in relation to performance.

are you really sure? they are basicaly tbreds & dont they use lower voltages to begin with.... I am not so sure a stock barton would be able to oc higher..

like i stated, the barton should still prevail over the sempron in performance. the barton is cheaper and a superior performer (for socket A).

that wasnt my question, my question was does it overclock more?

And if it does then the clock speed should make up for it.

Overclock that ah heck, I've yet to see any really good data on how the Sempy overclocks. I have a a Semp 2200 but it's in a ECS board.

The Sempron 2800 I have is multiplier locked and when I tried to increase the fsb it was unstable so I can't provide any overclocking results.

I am not sure which was causing the lock ups although the motherboard was okay to get my 2500 mobile upto 2.5ghz without any problems.

I'm sorry, all it is, is an Athlon XP 2400+ with a differnent name so it should match one exactly..performance ...overclcoking..everything but price since the Athlon XP 2400+ is only $84 RB
